Decided to melee that damned fire-breathing bridge drake. I'm at the end of the game so I'm strong enough to do it.

On my second attempt, it was nearly dead so I went for a reckless charging attack with my spear in the hopes of finishing it off. I speared it through the chest at the exact same second it stepped on me and obliterated my health bar. We both died in unison.

I'm just gonna pretend in my head that was epic instead of tragic and try to ignore the fact it resulted in the 10k souls it dropped vanishing into the ether.

I tried reading bits and pieces of A Feast for Crows while stealthed and "defending" nodes, and the battle was far away. I ended up dead without even noticing it. Also, there was a naked rogue running around with two axes for some reason.

On a side note, WTF Valve?
You do know that not all liches are ice-based, right? That's a dumb stereotype.

You know, I do have a small issue with ice being associated so closely with death.  My favorite characters play with ice magic, and because of this stereotype of the dead having 'the chill of death' on them ice is always subpar.  Recent games making 'slow' a part of ice magic are trying to compensate for something.

I like systems which give the elements special qualities like that, though.  Otherwise it's rock-paper-scissors, aesthetic-only, or simply unbalanced.

I... don't remember the last time I died, actually.  7 Endurance, and some of my perks:
Life Giver: 30HP
Near Death Experience (mod): Actions points only regenerate under 30% health, but under 20% everything is half-off.  Under 10% each kill fills the bar.
Nerd Rage: I get 10 Strength and +15 damage reduction under 20% health

Mainly I manually zap stuff with a breeder-reactor laser pistol (which I lovingly call the Dispersion Pistol because nostalgia) but whenever I take enough damage, I pull out a chainsaw and wreck face.  My base STR is 3, but Nerd Rage cares not.

Then I eat all the corpses.  Fallout: New Vegas is fun.

OH RIGHT I was in Vault 3 and swam into a flooded passage.  The door at the other end was locked, I nearly drowned.  Eventually I unlocked the door with a remote computer and returned to loot the weapon stash inside.

The room had a visible air bubble along the ceiling but I COULDN'T BREATHE IT.  Lost some progress.

The lich in Warcraft 3 (thus, the original DOTA game) had ice-based powers as well. It's probably just a straight conversion of the character, but I've never played DOTA so I don't really know.

Yeah, DotA pretty much took the concept and changed a few things. Lorewise, the Lich King et al were based in Northrend, which is basically the North Pole (before WoW decided it needed more variety).

Valve didn't decide it, a nearly decade old game did.

You know what I like the most? Being shoved into the very tail-end of matches that have already been very, very badly lost.

No wait that's a thing I hate. There really is no recovering from a 1400 point deficit.

Some lore: Firran tribesmen must prove their worth by climbing a fairly tall cliff and fighting some monsters. Not too difficult, especially considering this is still in the newbie area.

I set my sights a little higher. A little lot higher. The single highest point in the entire area, to be precise (large image). Through heavy glider and world geometry abuse, I made it to a place that I would have sworn was unreachable. Sheer cliffs in many places on the way up. Terrain that appeared solid but you could actually pass through. It took a long time, but it was worth it.

Immediately after this, I discovered that gliders have a three minute time limit. I was still above the level where airships fly (and in fact was angling towards one, trying to land on it) when that time limit was reached and I plummeted to my death. Not even a Firran's fall damage reduction saved me

Alright, getting through the first harvest season after three years of subsisting on hunters, fishing, and gathers and... why is so many people dying of hunger? No more firewood? No more logs to make firewood? Damn it, did someone else die of hunger?! Oh, and I had more children than adults, now where have I seen that situation before?

Banished. Tip: Get a farm field going before the first mid-spring and get six people working on it or you're dead in a few years. Holy crap this is more difficult than I thought it would be.

After a few more bad starting positions, I finally got a rather massive food surplus. I am pissed because I missed out on some bean seeds as the jackoff bringing stuff to the trade depot decided to bring stuff 10 units at a time(they can carry 50, and I needed about 100). Unfortunately, I was a bit slow building more houses, so now the old people are dying before new people can reach adulthood to replace them. Dammit, people, have more sex!
