I bought Starbound a few days ago, and thanks to my internet going down for some time, didn't get to play it until yesterday.
When I did get to play it, I booted up a new character, namely a Glitch, and then began to do the quest. After finishing that, it said something about making a crafting table. I didn't know how to do this, so I went down to the planet to try and figure out what to do.
Bad move.
I land, end my teleport animation, walk about ten blocks to the left, and get murderized by some pink and green bipedal...thing. I didn't even grab the sword so I could fight back.
On a semi-related note, how do I crafting table?!

Collect some wood from trees (like digging blocks just at the base of the tree, it takes a while be patient). then, with wood, hit C to open the crafting interface. a crafting table is one of your options. after placing it, you can use E on it to craft more stuff.

Oh Tarnesh, that bastard. First mage you encounter in the game, and he casts Horror on you, the fucker. Thankfully there is a posse of about 3-5 guards wandering around that are that rush to your aid, but usually you can kill him with just Imoen and your CHARNAME if you do it right. Just have Imoen fire her magic missile wand at him right before he talks to your guy, and it will disrupt his Mirror Image spell, which totally screws him.

Volvagia is tough as balls. Her flame-hair things, while an awesome effect, are also distracting as hell while trying to see if I should attack her or back away.

Anyway, yeah, when he pops his head out of the whack-a-mole lava holes, smack dat shit up with the Megaton Hammer. If you take more than a few seconds, you cop a nasty damaging swipe if you're within hammer range.

He died a completely natural death. I guess he will not go to Válhall at all, then...

I didn't die but I'm pretty sure I did something wrong. After climbing Hightower Mountain, I was attacked by a birdman-beast and Llanie Summers tackled it off the cliff. Reloaded to try something else.

Dragonsphere. For a point-n-click, I'm actually having quite a bit of fun.

And then I realized five things:

A) The pickaxe mines in a 3x3 area.
B) The glass tube was 2 tiles thick
C) I was standing directly underneath it
D) The pickaxe mines glass instantly
E) ...Yeah, it was lava.

In the Forest Maze, I have to solve a riddle to disable some magical guardians that are blocking my way. There are eight sprites around that are supposed to help, and I can only assume that they are ALL liars.

After asking each one for a hint, I found out that they all gave out conflicting, incorrect information. After finding the one sprite who finally told an indisputable truth (the villain is evil), I asked her if it was safe to walk past the guardians. She said yes. I was then killed by the guardians that were supposedly safe to walk past.

Dude this isn't the 1980s anymore.  Villains that are indisputably 100% puppy kicking-ly EVIL are extremely rare these days.

After finding the one sprite who finally told an indisputable truth (the villain is evil), I asked her if it was safe to walk past the guardians. She said yes.

"Oh. you meant is it safe for you to walk past the guardians. No. No it isn't. They will murder you. Yeah, I can walk past them whenever I want. It's great! There's a fantastic bar, like, just past them. I love it there. Do you want to co--Ohmigosh, I'm sorry! I forgot about your condition. How insensitive of me!"

Sneaked too slow and got caught in a guard's patrol route. During the subsequent alarm I managed to use a recently acquired landmine to blow us both up.

Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake

Dude this isn't the 1980s anymore.  Villains that are indisputably 100% puppy kicking-ly EVIL are extremely rare these days.

Dragonsphere was made in the 90's but I'm still not even sure what Sanwe (the bad guy) did wrong, except maybe make a tower in the mountains without asking anybody.

If I followed the plot correctly, Sanwe was trying to basically destroy the world, or at least the nearby area. Then again, it's been some time since I've played the game.
