In her latest attempt at the Ironman challenge, Ilia had managed to make it down to the twenty-fourth floor of the infinite dungeon, Dorn Beast familiar in hand. However she ended up being violently dissolved in an explosive torrent of acid that also took out her Dorn Beast familiar. It was unfortunate to say the least.

After an incredibly successful run with relatively few mistakes, I fell into the abyss... because my gamepad locked up for several seconds.

As the guy who first beat half life and Warcraft II with only keyboard (my mouse broke and I was a broke kid) I never put stock in these . . . gamepads.  Arrow keys, enter, shift, asdwfe FTW!

Slavers guild went hostile to me when I brought them  map at 0801 in the morning.  Apparently arriving on the map at 0750 set them all to nighttime routines; which meant I was intruding and had to recieve 80 new holes in my body.  Did not help I had just come from the NCR and their no guns policy.

Fallout 2

Jumped up a ledge, spotted a skeletal Slinger. Before I can react, he hits me with a thrown bone. Hit 1.

Dropped down, start cycling my subweapons for the flaming birds that excel against targets above you. While I'm cycling, Slinger drops down from his ledge and lands on my head. Hit 2.

I step back and start cycling again through my subweapons, this time for the ice dragon that one-shots these pests in front of me. The Slinger uses this time to throw another bone. Hit 3.

And thanks to Hard Mode, that third hit kills me, when I had full HP before the first attack.

Best of all? This whole routine repeated itself almost identically, with a different Slinger in a different position. This time, though it was after barely killing a tough boss... and forgetting to save afterwards.

Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin. I'd just finished a Normal mode run (thereby unlocking Hard mode), so I'm not used to weak enemies actually being a threat again...

Got one of my team members to turn on the other two survivors, and we killed them both with Cyanide pills. Then I turned on the final member of the team, and ran out of ammo. By the time I reloaded, she'd gotten up, and we had a merry moment of yakety sax before she gunned me down.

A colosseum full of pratoerians and gladiators duking it out, with me smack dab in the middle? No problem. A couple of centuries of pratoerians sent to clean up after I took the first group out? Barely an issue. Few small waves of Roman ninjas and flamethrowers after those? They made a shish kebab out of me.

Spartan: Total Warrior

Tough game towards the end, at least the final level used Carnifexes sparingly.

Mass troopers with spoils of war, the bane of my existence. Don't know what I did wrong. Hunters did jack, troopers torn to shreds despite being of at least equal numbers, AI spams grenadiers and troopers while creating instant no-fly zones. Dragon died, recruits vaporized, buildings captured, battle lost, game over. Off to redo the campaign and immediately research spoils of war since it's clearly the most overpowered ability in the early game that I've encountered especially when used en masse.

Divinity: Dragon Commander

Touched Dracula. Exploded.

So... I deal ~50 damage per hit. If I throw a Cross, that goes up to 33 damage with 2-4 hits (depending on aim). Death has 4444 hit points (in Normal mode, at least). I die in three hits. Oh, and this is only the first phase of the boss fight.

Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, Richter mode. The final boss feels like possibly the only time in the entire game that Maria and her birds aren't hideously overpowered.

Then, in my boundless stupidity, I killed myself with it.
