If dying of laughter counts, I was playing on a SS13 server and a admin put on every single song by his/her favorite band on at the same time.
It sounded like they were screaming profanity.

Damn you, non-canonical green (yellow? Iunno) faction!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

In the books, the Atreides are green while Harkonnen are blue. In the games however, Atreides and Harkonnen are typical good-guy-bad-guy blue and red while House Ordos are green.

Yeah, Ordos. How could I forget?

Playing as Harkonnen, by the way. I haven't read much Dune, and not for some time, so I forgot what they're like and just thought Harkonnen sounded like a cool name :P

They're the sadistic homosexual russians. At least in Dune2k they have more durable units, and their unique units are quite heavy too. Real brute force faction.

Was running too fast, so when I jumped to a platform I accidently vaulted over a railing on the other side, plummeting about 6 stories.

I absolutely love Dune (the books) so I nerd all over the place when somebody mentions it, because nobody really talks about it that I've seen. I played Dune II for a while but got stuck on a super-hard mission (I think it was 5?) and gave up, that was years ago.

Favourite house was Atreides. Mainly because of the... thingies... can't remember the name of them. The artillery things. I also liked the fremen.

And one of my friends hates it. He hasn't played it, but he liked the first dune book (rest are apparently crap), and it seems to enjoy tearing through the canon.

I think they were called minotaurs or mongoose, I assume you're referring to the mechs with eagle beaks and a ton of cannons. E:BfD (and Dune2k) were pretty fun Westwoodian RTSs. Not pinnacles of the genre but very entertaining I think.

Dune RTSs' have fairly little to do with the books. Yes there is the planet Arrakis, and yes there is spice that is mined. There's also some covert fighting over the said mining rights by noble houses Atreides and Harkonnen. That's about it for the similarities.

EDIT:
Let's try to keep this on-topic, shall we.

Final boss had ludicrously durable nanothingie shield and was armed with a semi-automatic 5.56mm rifle shooting explosive ammo. Took her maybe 5 or so shots to finish me off. Ouch.

Playing on Insanity.  First I barrel through the EDF barricade, running a soldier over.  A few moments later my reck embeds itself into the chemical depot.  I then try to get out, but instead of  hitting the exit vehicle button I hit detonate explosives. I then hit the right button, jumping out of my flying burning truck.  Right in front of some EDF who fill me with holes.

I tried XCOM: Enemy Unknown on Classic difficulty with Ironman. On the very first mission I lost two rookies after I accidentally aggro'd two seperate packs of three sectoids each, who outnumbered and outflanked my squad of four and used their magic 100% chance to crit hit to oneshot the aforementioned meatshields soldiers.

I made it to the third mission where the first UFO was shot down. Sectoids and their frikkin' instant crits wiped out the squad slowly, painfully, and critically. Srsly, it seemed like every shot my rookies made was a guaranteed miss even at point blank range, while the sectoids managed to score critical hits on every single shot that landed.

I rage quit.

Classic difficulty OP, nerf plz.

I explored two ruins with my first two colonists on the very starting turns. They both disappeared. Huh, interesting. Well I guess England isn't going to be colonizing the New World any time soon.

Yes, I didn't exactly lose or die, but there's not exactly much I can do with one ship and nothing else.

Did your next game start with finding a tree with the word "Croatoan" carved into it?

Yeah, it also had some indians claiming they were descendants of white men. I didn't believe them, of course.

Unknown to most but the insane and the mystics, Tarran is actually Earth itself, as Earth is sentient like that planet in Avatar. Originally Earth used names such as Terra on the internet, but to protect it's identity it changed letters, now becoming the Tarran you know today.

Tarran has the "Tarran Bug", a bug which causes the affected character to repeatedly hit teammates while dual-wielding instead of whatever the hell he is shooting at.

Anybody who dislikes Dune Messiah, Children of Dune or God-Emperor of Dune is a filthy heretic to be shunned. :P

Anyways, to get back on topic:

I fought a minotaur and only survived with 3 HP, and I decided that I would wait 40 turns for my HP to come back before continuing on to the next level. I accidentally entered in 400 turns, and when I finally had control again I was fainting from hunger and completely out of food. I needed to get going if I didn't want to starve to death, so I promptly went down the stairs, upon which I passed out. A quagga killed me in one of my fainting fits.
