Various close calls involving situations such as:

Getting mobbed by zombies while my teammates did nothing. Including one time, I had to limp right to the safehouse(which I took way too damn long in finding during a constant horde attack), although it did feel kinda cool just barely making it.
Startling the Witch, both accidentally and intentionally, while my teammates did nothing, leaving me to empty my pistol into her. For some odd reason, my bullets kept hitting very low... ...anyways. At one point I was stupid enough to rush a Witch with a chainsaw. Another time, I fired a shotgun at a Jockey and hit a Witch instead.
Getting pushed into a corner by a Tank... while my teammates did nothing. At least nothing effective. Even emptying a semi-automatic shotgun into its face at point-blank doesn't really do anything.

Actual deaths involved:
Getting strangled by a Smoker... while my frickin' teammates did nothing. They didn't even do anything once I was incapacitated.
Getting blown off the roof of a building by a Charger. Instant death, although the Charger did see fit to slam my head into the ground a few times for good measure.

Not really deaths, but...

Peeking around the corner? Not allowed on the server, kicked. Using grenades from a certain distance? Not allowed on the server, kicked. Too many mines in any one doorway? Not allowed, kicked. Not following That Guy's master plan for the entire round flawlessly? Kicked.

Combat Arms. I think I'm starting to remember why I stopped playing this game.

Having returned from the lost mines of al-Aziz, Gairon and his fifty men were ambushed by a band of two-hundred Singalian slavers! Although the battle ensued in the dry flatlands, he and his force managed to hold their own against the first wave of cavalry, crossbowmen raining hell down upon the savages as he and his elite company of Vanskerry warriors and Fierdsvain huscarls ripped man from horse.

Then came the spearmen. One by one Gairon's men fell in battle, and having lost his horse, the remaining enemy riders managed to outflank his detachment and lay waste to the archers' formations. At last, the captain was the only man left standing against the ravenous nomads. Drawing his almighty Runesword and taking it in both hands, he resolved himself- and he, alone- charged forward into the oncoming infantry.

Men fell by the dozens! One after one, his baleful blade outpaced their spears and halberds, sweeping men from their feet and cleaving through mail with the same ease that it cleft the air. In moments the tide of battle had been turned by the bloodied hands of a single man. With a final blow, he brought down the last horse and its rider amongst a red sea of bodies. Then, he held his sword aloft, and with a deep brea---

Gairon has been knocked unconscious by Outcast.

I'd been camping near a volcano for some time, holding nightly dingo sacrifices to train up wrestling and gather food for a trip to assassinate a distant quest target. After the first night I had more than enough food and dingo blood for my adventurer's foreseeable lifetime, but I was having so much fun chucking dingoes into the volcano that I stayed for about a week.

One night, I woke up surrounded by goblins. A lot of them must have been crossbowmen, because I kept auto-dodging their bolts until I dodged right into the volcano.

Damn, is the community even worse than when I last played(about 2 years ago, although a recent attempt failed due internet derp)? I remember someone tried(but failed) to get me kicked because he left the game, checked my profile, and came back in and claime I was hacking because my headshot rate was "impossible"(~20-21%). Yes, that means one in every five kills from when I started was made via headshot. No, that doesn't mean I'm hacking, I'm just that badass. And that helmets are useless.

He should have checked my KDR stat(<0.8).

New game, playing on King difficulty. Attila the Hun shows up 40 turns in just after I get a second city up. Get bumrushed. This happens twice.

Fuck Attilla. He's worse than Monty in my opinion.

BONE DOGS.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Very vulnerable to fire - if memory servers, a single full strength great fireball kills them outright. If you are STR build, I hear 2h Zweihander heavy attack flattens them.

The moment Peace Time runs out, my opponent demands a ton of resources. Ordinarily, I ignore these as giving in to their demand actually provokes them into declaring war, while ignoring them tends to delay that. This time, less than 10 seconds after the demand was sent, a declaration of war followed. Less than 5 seconds after that, huge battalions of tanks swarmed over my nation, far more than could conceivably be built by that point, period. I had but 10 humble infantry, period. Cue ragequit.
