Well, not many other games feature Alduin da World Eater, so I'mma say that Objective was playing Skyrim. I could be wrong though, maybe it's the other Alduin.

In one of my regular "Nigh-invincible space station vs. X amount of tiny cannon fodder ships" matchups, I rushed to the space station at high speed in hopes of damaging the large shield area covering most of the weapon systems. Said space station fires two torpedoes: one hits my single phaser array, instantly blowing through the shields and disabling them, while the second hits my engines and destroys them altogether. Somehow I had enough overall hull integrity to slowly drift away for several minutes, watching the battle get smaller in my rear view mirror until another torpedo caught up with me and blew my warp core.

Star Trek: Bridge Commander. Why can't they make more Star Trek games like this?

Turns out assaulting a moderately defended bunker with a stealth based character is surprisingly difficult. Especially when the defenders have heavily armoured commandos with twinlinked assault rifles and rocket launchers.

Deus Ex

Stabbed to death by an elite guard on the first level. I've never played the game before and I still don't understand why they can hear me coming even while I'm crouched and slow walking.. And clearly I'm meant to walk behind them because they have the key to the next area.

EDIT: Wait.. What if I waited in the shadows near their route, then when one walked by I lifted the key off of him? That just might work!

Thief: The Dark Project - Hard Difficulty

You could just 1-shot them with a broadhead arrow since you're not playing on expert?

I'm fairly certain that metal- and certain hard floor surfaces make noises even if you're crouched and walk slowly. You'll recognize the particular floors by the hard tapping sound your walking makes, which is different than the one you hear from wooden or stone floors.

I remember three ways to avoid those: 1) some areas with those surfaces have sound muffling carpets, jump from carpet to carpet. 2) Use moss arrows. 3) Crouch and walk very slowly, that is, only tap the walk key for a second or less. Your character makes a sound after every 'step', but if you move in short bursts, you never make a full step and thus move silently even on the hardest surfaces. It's slow as hell but if you can't or don't use moss arrows it's a choice.

Note that the biggest difference between hard and expert difficulty in thief is the fact that you can't kill anyone most of the time, and you sometimes get additional objectives on higher difficulties.

Are you surprised? Bay 12 is the only group of people I know who would gleefully cause a fiery apocalypse and the destruction of all we hold dear simply to make a slightly amusing joke.

After decades of expansion and prosperity, the Golden Horde finally met its end due to its overzealous scouts and the fact that its researchers suck.

For whatever reason, whenever the Golden Horde's scouts uncover new areas of the map (happens every couple of years or so) they apparently take a formal declaration of war along with them. So you'll just be doing your thing, then *wham* scouts discover new land - you're at war! This is made worse in that large nations may only be partially uncovered by your scouts, so they'll be scouted, you'll fight a war, broker a peace, then a couple of years later, you're right back at war when the scouts find more of their country.

Anyway, altough I had the largest army on the planet, I also had one of the lowest tech armies on the planet. My brilliant scouts decided that this would be a great time to uncover more land of the guy with the third largest army, who was also DOUBLE my tech level. I'll note that this was now my third or forth battle with the guy, and each battle I'd fought had gone poorly. So I'm at war again. He sends a 30k army at my 48k army, which is hunkered down in a defensive position with the best general I have. I lose.

Seeing my weakness, literally every single country on my borders declares war, and rebellions spring up all over the country. My bank account goes from thousands to bankrupt in less than five years, trying to fight off all the enemies around me. Eventually I call it quits when I'm left with a country less than 1/3rd its size, which is still at war with over a dozen nations.

RIP Golden Horde, 1399 - 1451.
