Was sipping a glass of Five Rivers wine when I noticed the cute, skinny cat was sleeping at the bottom of the stair well, and decided to promptly tumble downward and spill the cabernet on the new carpet, all the while thinking of it's adorable pose and how to best startle it from it's nap..!

Wooh, we have a real life ghost on Bay12! Sure, eldrich abominations and face-punching superheroes are cool, but we've never had a ghost.

That we know of...

Was driving around when I noticed a man infront of me I quickly drifted away but then my car rolled and began rolling down the road which was a slope. I tried breaking the windows with my elbows with no use. So I just smashed the window with my head and I went unconscious. Later I died and respawned.

Angband is amazing.  Zangband and TOME are great, but Angband is the foundation from which they grew.

Welp, Gluteus Max the crazy beserking minotaur fighter bit the dust. It was much less climatic than I thought.

I pissed off a champion ice wizard down in the Snake Pits and she spammed a bunch of unfair ice magic. Basically, she bathed the room in a strobelight that froze everything it touched, and it ate through my health quickly.

Gluteus retreated down a luckily close-by downwards staircase with only 20 HP left out of some 105 total. Then two nagas and a naga warrior ganged up on him. I tried quaffing a potion of heal wounds and called on Okawaru to buff my stats, but the nagas kept spitting poison and the warrior constricted me. The potion didn't do much, and even though I went beserk I wasn't able to kill the nagas before I did done died. I ain't even mad, that round was fun as heck.

now I'm terrified of running into Max's ghost in a future run though.

Not my death, but the other night my buddy got very close to escaping the dungeon with the Orb of Zot in DC:SS. His level 27 DEFE got run down by hellhounds and various demonspawn on D:7. Hilariously, his next character met that max-level ghost... on D:7

No amount of dodge mastery can counter the effects of head-biting when unconscious. Damn storm dragons...

I was gathering supplies far from home, and found myself in the midst of a sickly-looking forest, where I found a pit with walls of unbreakable black stone. I started descending the pit, scaling narrow ledges on the wall, when some gigantic flying parasite native to the area came in after me. I missed it with my musket, and it swooped down and knocked me from the ledge. I fell through utter darkness for a while, and was lucky enough not to scrape against the walls before landing in a dark pool.

I climbed my way out of the pool, pulled out a waterproof glowstick, and found myself in an expansive cave system deep underground. I was pretty injured and low on musket shot, but I had found a big haul earlier, which included an enchanted mirror that could bring me back home if I wanted... so I decided to press on for a little bit. Might as well see what the cave was all about, see if there was any loot to be had. If things got dangerous, I'd just use the Magic Mirror to whisk me away in time. I went along the cave for a few minutes, through pools of water filled with beautiful iridescent jellyfish, and past what might have been stalactites... though in the darkness, they looked almost like tumors with sharp teeth growing from the floor. Ahead of me, the cavern thinned down to a point, but near the end I saw a container made of gold. Treasure!

Just as I got close enough to open it, a screeching, bestial roar echoed through the caves... not from down the tunnel behind me as expected, but through the cavern walls ahead of me. I didn't recognize it, but I knew it was a warning. The treasure forgotten, I start running back the way I came, fumbling through my gear for the Magic Mirror. As I stumbled back into the jellyfish pool, a gigantic skull with blazing eyes phases through the wall, flying like a phantom straight at me. I keep running, splashing uselessly through the pool, as I pull out the mirror, and hold it up to my face. As its magic started to take effect to whisk me from that hellhole, the phantom skull hit, killing me instantly.

Forgot the controls to my rocket, and in an attempt to find the brake, I instead exited the rocket... without a space suit. In space.

The Water Temple seems to be a playground where all the most annoying enemies in the game hang out. Blue tektites ninja down from just about anywhere to steal a heart, those shell things show up where you have no room to dodge, and the spike ball things show up in groups of five or more in some rooms.

Starting out as a demigod with Grand Master in Dodging does not make you a parkour god. Nor does it cure any wounds and chipped bones caused by bolts.

The only trouble I've really had with the Water Temple, besides Dark Link(which is fun enough to be worth it), was trying to figure out how to reach this one chest with a small key in order to open a door leading to the boss door.

Ironically, this was the chest that you get to after beating Dark Link, getting the Longshot, and using the Song of Time in the room with the Longshot and go through that river thing. And then there was the obvious stupidity of finding the Fire Arrows outside the temple, that one took me years to figure out.
