Rooz could feel the effects of the poison in his system. He flung himself into a tight corridor and closed the doors behind him. Curse the adders, curse that sleeping giant mite! It had to wake up right when he was so close to stabbing it into the sweet oblivion of eversleep! And after slaying such a colossus as that ogre and its wild jackal hounds, now it ended like this. Wasting away to poison of all things.
Past corpses lay around him, stinking of rot and fungus. Too weak to move on, too fearful the slightest err might drain the last life from his flesh, Rooz collapsed amidst the unburied dead. Rooz had a fell black potion stored in his cloak, a potion that looked about as inviting to drink as tar. Still, with only a sliver of life left, it was a chance. Perhaps it was a potion of curing.
He quaffed the potion.
It was an error. His flesh began to waste away from his bones, and he was surrounded by a nasty field of horrible repulsive radiation as an unexpected mutation took effect.
A godly voice rang in his ears; the voice of Kikubaaqudgha, the god of pain and death.

Dammit, literally minutes after posting in the own thread I got attacked by an adder who woke a giant mite. The poison overloaded my already low health from the ogre fight. I could have easily shot a poison dart and ran for it, but "nooo, my +4 +3 orc shortsword could surely kill this already weakened giant mite!"
