Now, I didn't actually
die... in fact, no one did. But as the game was saving, at the tail end of an epic house party, it
froze. I was fucking
horrified. I had saved recently, I had been careful like that in case of freezes, but I'd only had the one save file. I hadn't anticipated this. Thoughts of corrupted save data flashed through my mind as I restarted the PS3... to find my last save, seemingly fine.
Just as I was filled with relief, thinking "Not a big deal, only a few minutes playtime lost," I clicked on someone to talk to and the action disappeared instantly from the queue. Try again, same thing.
So no one could interact with anyone else. At the start of a house party. Which needed to be a success for one of my sims to complete a couple of wishes. Another problem was, when attempting to center the view on a sim, the game told me they were in another part of town... When they were right next to the cursor.
That was
last night early this morning.. I slept on it and went back to it this
morning afternoon when I woke up, the problem was still there. I assumed this whole issue would be fixed by going to a different zone, but I wasn't about to let this party be a failure, so I dipped into my large pool of karma points to cheer everyone up despite this awful glitch.
Cue a very, very strange party where everyone turned up, stood around awkwardly for an hour or two and then left, murmuring under their breath about what an awesome time they had and how they were "all partied out".
Of course, as everyone started to leave I decided to try desperate measures to fix this glitch. I blew up an armchair, set the kitchen on fire, dropped a meteor on the front doorstep... And only then did I think of choosing 'yes' when the game asked me if I would like to travel to another zone to center on my sim.
Of course, after all that silliness, I discover that that was
all that was needed to fix it. -_-
I don't think I'll reload the game, though- that was so bizarre as to be quite amusing.
