My Techpriest noticed a bomb in the engine room of our shuttle. I attempt to remove it once and roll 80; an anti-tamper device sears my hand until my bones melt away. With the time still ticking, I scream incoherently and try to defuse the bomb with my good hand. I rolled 97.

Yep. Your stats go from about 20-30 to a theoretical maximum of 100. When you make a check, you have to roll lower than the relevant stat to succeed.

On-topic: grabbed an AT Lightning, in an attempt to kill a pesky Sundy parked at our biolab. An enemy Light Assault used his jetpack to approach me, dropped two C4s, and blasted me into dust. Gah.

Before that? Rolling in a Vanguard, part of a 20-something convoy. My tank, of course, was the first one destroyed by the hovering Liberator.

Rogue Trader's all about the bonuses. You have a very wide variety of skills, such as Drive, Pilot, Tech-Use, etc. which offer a contextual bonus to their associated stat.

So, say I roll Tech-Use to disarm the bomb. The stat associated with Tech-Use is Intelligence. I have INT 30, which means I would normally need to roll lower than 30 to succeed. But, since I have three levels in Tech-Use (+20), I only need to roll under 50 to succeed. Rogue Trader is a pretty lethal game, but you can be very successful if you plan with your party.

EDIT: Back on topic, I was deep in the sewer when I realized that I hadn't seen any of my companions for quite some time. Then I randomly got shot in the head by someone or something I couldn't see. Dem goblins be sneaky.

Got my shit wrecked by an assistant who somehow knew from the Chaplain that the whole medical team are cultists. He disappeared into the Maintenance area while the team were preparing. The manhunt resulted in an ambush by the whole fucking security team minus those on our side. I think we won in the end, but I died.

So, um... What exactly can you do about a certain big floating eye who spawns every night and keeps harrassing you until you die? Because with the exception of my chestplate, I have golden everything and 340 max HP, but I just cannot take down its 2800 HP. At all. My trident, which wrecks most enemies with relative ease, just doesn't do enough damage.

Terraria, Eye of Cthulu. Srsly, how do you get rid of this annoying bastard? Is it even possible to solo him? I just want to explore the damn caves in peace, not pieces. >.<

Build a sort of arena during the day, away from your house. Get a decent bow (iron or better). Craft a ton of fire arrows. An ironskin potion for luck. Should die easily.

Yeah, get shurikens. They are one of the best weapons. You can kill it without any armor or any other weapon if you do it in an arena.

Ideally, a decent ranged weapon, be it a gun (space gun if you can get it), a bow w/ fire arrows or better, or a beefy supply of shurikens, a couple potions if things go badly, something to help your movement (Hermes boots ideally), and at least a long piece of straight ground (2-3 screens worth of space should be more than enough) to run away from it if you cba to build a proper arena.
In its fist phase it'll barely catch up to you if you run away from it with Hermes boots, and in the second you can dodge its lunges fairly reliably if you get a feel for its attack pattern.
Just plink away at it until it dies.




As for my own death, I had the Infinite Bee Mine bug, and accidentally poked a bee with an axe when I was trying to chop some trees. Bees have social aggro.
Cue 80+ bees surrounding me and stinging me to death.
