It was a Blood Moon. I thought my defenses were near-impenetrable. I knew Clowns were rare - indeed, I had gone some Blood Moons without seeing a single Clown. When one showed up and and was crushed by my boulder trap, I figured the worst was over and went to check on the back entrance to my fortress.
I returned to the front gate just in time to see a second Clown drop a bomb on the walkway.
Almost as if this were planned, half a dozen Possessed Armors leaped through the hole and charged. I counterattacked, my Godly Night's Edge swinging, but one managed to break into the Guide's room and slaughter him. And then the Clown returned. I managed to slay it before it could drop another bomb, but was swarmed and killed by Wandering Eyes and Armor.
I respawned in my room, determined to seal the breach as soon as I could, but no sooner had I cleared the fortress of enemies and hastily patched the bridge did yet another Clown appear. The makeshift bridge detonated before I could reset the boulder trap and I was killed again, still weakened from respawning.
The Clown was now
inside the fortress, tossing bombs every which way. Possessed Armor began breaking down doors to other homes, threatening the occupants. This was the first time a Blood Moon seriously threatened or frightened me.
Eventually I managed to drive off the enemies and survive the night, but it cost me two more deaths and the loss of the Dryad and Tinkerer.
