My first 3 missions were a resounding success. 11 aliens killed, no losses and a handful of promotions. Plasma weapons research is almost done as well.
Mission pops up, a UFO has landed near Nevada. I send a fully equipped 14 man squad with veterans and rookies out there. I kill 9 aliens without a single loss and am scouring the map for the last one or two.

Fast forward: a single sectoid with a plasma rifle kills 12(!!!!!!) of my agents and the last two are getting back on the craft to escape the failed mission when one gets sniped by that same sectoid. Worst part(besides total failure) is that the last guy killed was a captain and had killed 3 of the aliens during that mission.

Coming out of the sewers, me and that bad-ass Megaton guy were going to look for something to kill. However, the Regulators (or whatever they're called) popped up from nowhere in a group of at least 7. I took out a Combat shotgun and started firing. My ally got his head blasted off, and I ran out of ammo and got shot about 4,700 times before death.

Also, Clover got her head popped open by a Yao Guai.

Galactic Phantasy, My three Battleships somehow got owned by 2 Transport ships that don't even have shield-breaking lazors.
The flagship I was playing got toasted by laser spam while charging because I didn't see that the other ship was behind me.

So I happily chopped up a group of Empire soldiers and went further into this tunnel to get some magickal upgrade with crystal power.

Then I found out that there was another group of Empire soldiers, larger and led by a Wizard. Did I mention I forgot to heal after the first battle?

Stack everyone in medbay, open all airlocks, deactivate lifesupport = problems solved.

Unless you're attacked at the same time, that's problematic.

Yeah, but it can be a tough choice between losing your mantis that can kill an entire crew on his own and your Engi that can repair systems in seconds :P

I never lost much crew on boarding only events, even when I didn't have any door upgrades installed. Juggling, and using oxygen manipulation.

The time(s) I jumped in with medbay down/on fire or damagd door systems don't count.
