Derped around too long during the intro, and got burned to ashes by a dragon.

Me and my 5 friends got ambushed by goblins.

I charged after the two marksgoblins, slightly wounding the lesser one and then charging the leader of the group, the better marksgoblin.

He distracted me as elk, my companions, and goblins battled it out to the west. I lost all my men, and I was the only one left. I STILL couldn't kill the bastard after at least twenty strikes because he kept dodging. I got him to drop his crossbow though, I think.

I ran away from him as his macegoblins came. I didn't fare much better, and I was hurt very slightly. But I held.

Suddenly, the lesser marksgoblin that I ignored shot at me once, hit, and crippled me.

I didn't survive the macegoblins. Goddamn ranged enemies.

Dwarf Fortress Adventure Mode.

Edit: Then I got shot yet again and died suffocating. One shot, hit my chest, and my spine. The only thing I had fought previously was a Grizzly Bear.

Really starting to dislike ranged enemies.

It's a text-adventure, so I don't know for sure (it just says "purple lichen"), but I expect so, yes.
I hate this game so much. I've died for talking (to the mute people), walking (during a tribal dance ceremony) and explicitly following the game's instructions (it told me to lick a frozen pole. Insistently). And, like I said, A frakking moss-type thing killed me.
