Neglected to realize a spiked wall trap resets. Would have been so much cooler if I had stuck to it instead of flown across the room.

psychos are insanely powerfull.
They can throw their blades 100 meters and still hit you, and in melee they instantly demolish your health and your shield.

My ramshackle military of cutebolds forgot everything except their bone armor and shields, for a while they did good as they had wrestling apparently and grappled / beat animals to death with their shields. Then suddenly a horde of hornets with very good rolls emptied them of their blood. Suffice to say I did not reclaim nor intend to settle at that area again for a while.

I was raiding a human camp as a freshly rolled axedwarf. Killed a hammerman by disabling his hammer arm and severing his intestines, leaving him to die. Then the chieftan I was after managed to get in a lucky shot at my leg with his spear. As soon as I hit the ground I was instantly kabobed by spear/swordsman combo.

I was playing as MIGHTY MOTHER RUSSIA. I had just built a town. Then, an American warrior walked up to the town, demanded stuff I couldn't exactly give away, and destroyed it when I said "No, I won't give you all of my shit". That game lasted less than three minutes.

Accidentally disturbed some ruins held by rebels who apparently had Assault Landers. Notice them make a push of Militia to a nearby mine, forcing me to divert tanks towards there. A couple turns later, those same Militia came from the south, taking a well. While a petty annoyance, I applaud their clever feint.

Ragequit after House Hazat decides to suddenly declare war, and wipes out my entire small space force in exactly one turn. Had difficulty building more ships since it turns out Kish only has one Gem hex on the entire planet, and I didn't find it until next game. Malignatus, on the other hand, had plenty I didn't have time to take control of.

3 frostbite spiders ganged up on me and I died. Twice. It was on the third try that I remembered I had the Animal Allegiance shout.

Breaching the caldera of a volcano, many z levels below the surface. I tried the diagonal fortification method. It failed most spectacularly. Magma seems to have a great amount of pressure, despite repeated assurances it doesn't.
