In a show of strength, I decided to raid the Temple of the Apocalypse with my 10 well-armed men. Machine guns, rifles, pistols, grenades in every pocket, the 3 squads make their way to the temple via our only flight-capable vehicle: the Valkyrie X-1.
Cannon, Boomer & Droid on the auto-cannon, Firefight and Gunner on the machine gun, Farshot & Crosshair on the sniper rifles, Psychosis with her telekinetic powers, Scanner with his pistol and trusty motion scanner, and Stunner with the all-important albeit short-ranged stun gun. My 3 squads are inserted along the eastern entrance of the temple, on the main level. Immediately, my men split up in search of loot. Squad 1 goes down the western stairs into a nook with a Psiclone on the table, headed north til they hit a teleporter. Squad two heads north through double doors and reaches the same teleporters, only to run into a group of not one, not two, not even three, but 8 followers of Sirius, our sworn enemies. One holds a rifle, a few hold machine guns, and two hold rocket launchers. My men take one look at their launchers and lob a dozen grenades, stun and explosive, down into the chapel area where they've all converged. All the while, my 3rd squad is making their way through the northern office area, swinging around to cut off the cultist's escape from the north. Charging out from underneath, squad 3 cuts off the escape of 3 cultists, cutting them down with machine gun fire. One cultist fires off a rocket and nearly kills Scanner, leaving him critically wounded and bleeding badly. In seconds though, all our grenades detonate, leaving a haze of black smoke, fire, and green acrid knockout gas. To our pleasure, all of the cultists seem to have d- Oh SHIT, RPG! RP-
Fuck.
Note to self, do not bunch people up in small hallways.
