I somehow mangaged to decapitate my self with a whip and a sword.

Toribash, with a couple of weapon mods. Its basically a ragdoll turnbased fighting game where to do anything, you expand, contract, relax, or hold specific joints of the body. Thus, self decapitation.

After witnessing the death of my ally and friend Andrea to one of the Sphinx's heinous traps, I was determined to reach the depths, I located the final switch which would unlock the way and proceeded. This brought me to a room with 2 more sealed doors and a switch hidden in a sarcophagus, choosing the right door, as much by chance as anything, I found myself in a maze of flame. Remembering my vow I bravely plunged on, reaching the end and finding myself in a large room with a waterfall in the middle, bravely, and perhaps a little foolishly, I leapt in, falling down to a hallway leading to a truly evil room, dozens of small pillars reaching up from the molten depths, mistiming my first jump I plunged into the lava.
Game over man. Game over.

Ouch. That must've been a bummer... take me next time!

Managed to punch myself in the head, decapitating myself while attempting a scissor kick snap of the opponent.

Based on what I know about the game, you're doing it wrong if you don't decapitate or dismember yourself.

Wow, that game looks interesting! I might have a look at it.

It is, but it is also like 100 times harder and more complicated then chess.
I tried it before and basically the first few dozen hours of play you basically just fall down and get stuck like a turtle on its back.

Or you do something astoundingly awesome by freakish chance, then you never can figure out how you did it ever again even if you try your hardest.

Katana mod, Toribash.  I got one of their arms, but they jumped into the air.  So I grabbed their ankle with my free hand, and was going to go for a kick. Then they cut my hand off, spun, and cut me into 3 pieces.
