I used the Icarus augment to bring some Death from Above on a guard 3 stories below me but failed to see the two other guards who were under an overhang. They pumped a large amount of rounds into my cyborg self.

Laid my roleplay character to rest today... RIP Lord Reudh, eccentric adventurer of Gielinor.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
had been having some serious issues with botting and gold farming which has drained all the fun out of the game. It made me sad as I pretty much grew up alongside the game (Since 2003) but hey, life goes on. I still have the friends from that game, and the wallpaper my good friend Jhin drew me of Reudh... but yeah.

RIP, Lord Reudh. May you be always remembered as the crazy redheaded noble adventurer that you were.

I haven't played Runescape in years, but it's good to see someone who actually roleplayed in it, so RIP. :)
...Heh, now I remember good times playing RS with my real-life friend, trying to fight off scorpions while I waited for him to trek across the world and save me.

Ahem! On topic: I got torn apart by giant eagles, twice in a row on different worlds! Ouch. DF, obviously.

Me and my team were trapped behind my fort during the battle of the Highlands Fort and Fort Roc. The enemy team was NOT going to let us go ANYWHERE. It was practically like invading Omaha Beach back in '44. They would not stop shooting at us. I actually ran out of ammo and had to use my pistol. Someone else hurled a paint grenade and it hit me right in the face. Me and the guy I was standing next to were both eliminated INSTANTLY.

Aye, I played RS from Classic up until 2007 then quit from all the damn yew/rune farmers and cheaters. Never could get back into it. Oh, the long hours spent smelting and hunting demons... The paid account quests and awesome bonuses... So much time for a good game that died a long, long time ago.

--- --- ---

Having had explored a number of extra-Solar systems without any luck, the citizens of Barnard's Star Colony X-1 became accustomed to celestial isolation; the only colonized planet in the known Galaxy beside Earth. The 'Earth Mobile Fleet', comprised of three inexperienced 'Hyperion M-1' class Missile Cruisers and one 'Thunder' class Anti-missile defense escort, has been put on permanent guard of Earth while their neighbors in Barnard's Star were defended only by a company of ground troops. A company of men to protect 20 million colonists... Thankfully, there were no incidents and our mining operations were booming. Our Geo-Team had found hundreds of millions of trans-Newtonian materials deep within the planet, rocketing Colony X-1 to a new-found economic utopia. Factories gradually surfaced on X-1 as a trickling flow of increasing wages and scientific breakthroughs made X-1 more and more valuable to the Terra Imperium. Soon X-1 will achieve the stability needed to produce its own fleet of defensive ships. As a new defensive fleet will soon be in the region, Earth's government sends the EMF (Earth Mobile Fleet) to explore a new Jump Point found 5 systems away, hoping to discover a new X-1 equivalent to colonize.

But, of course, the Gods of Random Generation are fickle and filled with spite... Just we are to inaugurate the X-1 Defense Fleet, the idiots in Joint-Survey Team 1 break through to an unexplored system on the opposite side of the long jump-gate chain leading to X-1 and Earth... In little time, the crushed wreckage of Grav J-1 and Geo J-2 are floating aimlessly in space while the people of X-1 are dieing en masse via thermonuclear annihilation. Too late, the Earth Defense Force reaches the burning husk of what was once our most promising colony. Even the corpses of the dead are gone, the entire surface of the planet glassed over and the very soil turned crystalline.

Captain's Log: Year 3042, Month 7, Day 3.
Geo-Spacial Locator: Escape pod outside of 'Hyperion' 003's wreckage - Earth orbit

Note to self, and all commanding officers:

Luck, Chance, Fate, and Nature are a family of complete and utter assholes. Don't leave your colonies undefended, as hostile aliens will choose that moment to race towards our home system out of dozens, and annihilate our entire species without prior warning during the previous 42 years. The truth is out there; and here, well, I'm going to die in a floating tin can.

I was playing D&D (tabletop, not video game). My character, a level 12 human Paladin who worshiped a dwarven god, managed to get caught in a cloud of poison gas. I picked up my dice to prepare and save my character. Endurance check? Fortitude save? What horrors would poor little Sirus face?

Insta-kill gas. No saves, no checks. Goodbye, awesome paladin  :'(

Dumb DM is duuumb.

I was surrounded by monsters in a horrifying underground swamp. Made a break for it, got clipped by an arrow and exploded in a shower of miscellaneous stone tools.

Minecraft.

And that right there is why I always play house rules. Any insta-kill attack does XdX damage instead.

No, but I slept with his wife.
</joke>

In all seriousness, part of the problem was that we were playing a new module which required almost paranoid levels of skill checking and investigation (which my group isn't terribly great at). I, as a paladin, didn't know a lot about arcana or nature or whatever, so I was basically a bodyguard. When a squishy mage forgets to check the magical properties of some powder, there's not a lot I can do about it.

It could have been worse though. After I died, the party uncovered a magic artifact. The same mage touches it, and get his skeleton teleported out of his body. He had to be mercy killed by another party member.

Tiny baby city state, you will become one of Sweden's many colonies and join our great Empi-

Uhh.

That's alot of people.

Why do they have guns?

Wait.

Did he just arm the entire population with muskets?

Oh dear.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Brought 120 militia to a several hundred untrained yokel fight. I handed out some whoopass because they're useless fucks, but there are only so many your troops can take before routing, as I found out.

Seriously he armed the entire region and then threw them at me in a massive rush. And when I say entire region, I mean entire region. 450 rednecks against 240 militia men does not end well for the militia.

Then the game crashed.

Also in tabletop D&D, I stupidly decided to follow my clueless party members into a room filled with free-floating glowing balls... Reluctantly, my poor fighter just didn't want to be left behind if it did end up being a portal.
Well, the bulk of the party (read: everyone who attended the session) was instantly vaporised.
:'( I had grand plans for my dim-witted-but-smart-compared-to-the-rest fighter...
He tried to talk them out of it, though! :P

What, one of your trained soldiers isn't worth two rednecks?
