@MaximumZero, I just downloaded that, it is awesome. My last death resulted from not knowing how to activate a parachute.

Spacebar, ftw! The tutorial is very helpful in not immediately dying. I just got to about 44km and ran out of fuel, causing me to slowly and gently drift back to the ground, where the command module blew up anyway.

After getting my best ever Mummy Wizard who took out Terence, Pikel, Grinder and Blork with his combo of Mephitic Cloud, Call Imp and Magic Dart, Joseph shrugged off everything I could throw at him and took me down from range with his sling despite the Imps I'd left as distractions. Probably should've left a Meph cloud to confuse him for a few turns or something.

I'd even cleared a Kobold Vault. I did not think I was ready for big kobolds, but dang did that little combo work well.

My fortified hill tower was assaulted: enemy dropships managed to get a few soldiers on top of the tower (which I had 2 elite snipers stationed in to pick off any ground forces who got close to the tower) who could shoot through the tower's ceiling (the ceiling was weak after being barraged by so much shelling), killing the 2 snipers. Enemies were now able to drop down through the towers main shaft and were reaching my brain vault when, in a hail of gunfire, my heaviest unit was torn apart by a laser bayonet. Now nothing stood between my control brain and a horde of enemies piling up in my subterranean complex. To further humiliate me, they detonated a nuke inside the vault.

Pfft, I got to 79k   Nice simple multistage rockets for the win.

As for my most recent death I made a fancy multistage rocket with many extending arms.  It immediately started tipping over on the launchpad so I fired the rockets to get as much height as I could.

Pretty much went in a straight line sideways and drilled my fancy super expensive rocket into the assembly building like it was some kind of homing missile.  My little guys were in a panic the whole time.

My new record is 275,000 meters no joke, unfortunately I forgot the parachute, and the game froze on re-entry. Which sucked because I thought I could save them.

I'm pretty sure I achieved escape velocity but I'm not sure since I had to leave 20 mins in (I was around 1300k and still ascending pretty rapidly).

As for my last death, I dropped my boosters 8500 m above the launch pad, right before they ran out of fuel.

@Peewee, on my last launch my ship wasn't slowing down, I just turned it around for moral reasons. Thankfully the Kerman brothers survived to fly again. Their highest altitude: 433,209 meters.

My last death was at the hands of conservatives.

I was leading a charge of Huscarls against a pitiful force of archers and swordsman - we outnumbered them three to one, it was gonna be a slaughter.

I reach them, only to realize I'm alone, and once again forgot I'm not the commander of the army. I get beat down pretty bad.
