I was saving energy so I turned off my flashlight at night. I got jumped by a bigger alien. I tried to run back to the hermit's house and close the door, but the alien sneaked in before the door closed. I died in my safehouse.

Yep.

Just murdered at 29 as a Cuban with a graduate degree in Law, working as a senior political official. After being arrested yearly since being 24, and refusing to denounce my human rights stances every time. Pretty sure it wasn't a random murder. :D

Side note - that's a small annoyance for me. If you choose to participate in politics, you're shoehorned into 'human rights/freedom' - what if I wanted to be a communism activist, or a pro-government activist? :(

You kidding? Last time I played Real Lives so long ago, I rolled a fairly athletic Afghan guy, and put him in both religious and political activities. And no, what I wanted to see happen didn't happen.
