Bought Conflict: Desert Storm today. It was only $3 so I can't really say I was ripped off, but...
The one where you have to rescue the Emir of Kuwait from an Iraqi ambush, I get all the way to the extraction point, there's a couple enemies by it, I kill them, and move my team with the Emir towards it, and 5 seconds later, I find out that one of my guys had thrown a grenade(which only have 3 second timers at best, I think). Only Foley, our sniper, was left standing, so I had to have him med everyone else(including Emir), while under fire. And I think Foley was the one who threw the grenade. Next time, I'll seriously consider having them hand Bradley(the guy I usually control) all their grenades at the start of a mission. Probably could have given them to the Emir.
Had to go after Iraqi EWS and SAM sites, as well as intel gathering on Iraqi SCUD launchers. First, a local goat farmer spots us right at the start, and I spend an entire pistol(with supressor) clip trying to bring him down and prevent him from warning the Republican Guard about us. I think I hit him once with this game's crappy aiming system, because he started to limp a bit. Then, I decided to rush the camp the farmer was heading to. The battle went well enough, except the goat farmer got killed, and it looked like the IRG targeted him directly, since he was well outside the lines of fire between us the enemy groups. And it blamed ME for that reward for warning them about our attack.
After that, was the heavy fortified main gate of the base, which had two heavy MG nests, and more troops than the camp, who may or may not have heard the shooting a minute ago. Our briefing told us explicitly to avoid it. When I saw it, I backpedalled fast, but what did the rest of my team do? "CHAAAARGE!" *BAPBAPBAPBAPBAPBAPBAP* I learned something from that. And it wasn't that the 1991 US Rangers were apparently dropouts from mentally challenged-only elementary schools. I already knew that(see spoiler above). No, I learned that M203 grenades are made of lead bricks, and are launched via the same exact mechanism in pinball machines.
And yet, we still survived.
Then, we moved into the main base. After some skirmishes inside, I had healed myself, then later in another firefight, my health(which of course now nearly full) dropped to zero in about a second. Enemies don't do that kind of damage; there was only two that I could see in front, possibly two behind, but even then, their accuracy and damage aren't that good. No, again, I had once again been killed(well, wounded) by my own frickin' team!
