Should've just stopped playing for a while after escaping the Abyss, it made me reckless and stupid.

I've found the opposite when I play RLs.  If I stop playing and then come back, I'll make some stupid mistake and die.

A good part of it was mental fatigue, I'm sure, as the Abyss alone must have been an hour of running and screaming (and chugging Restore Ability potions,) and I'd been playing for an hour or two before that.

Playing one of my most successful characters yet: a minotaur of The Shining One. Named Holy Cow, of course.

I decided to try the orcish mines since I had only found 3 crappy shops so far, and of course found Erolcha after clearing most of the first floor. After playing cat and mouse for a while, I finally managed to sneak up on her.

I felt so clever, cornering Erolcha before she cast a single spell. I started cutting her up while resisting everything she threw at me.

You slice Erolcha!!
Erolcha is almost dead.
Erolcha casts a spell at you.
The crystal spear hits you!
Ouch! That really hurt!
You die...

Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup. I just don't care anymore.

I was pretty successful so far. I had found a rapier with some good enchantments, a +2 ring of stealth, and a suit of scale mail. I had just found three, unidentified potions. I go to a room I found earlier, with a small puddle of water and a door, and begin drinking the potions.
Confusion. Okay, not good, but it doesn't impact me too much.
Hallucination. Same as above.
Caustic gas. Aaaand I'm screwed.
At this point, I look over my inventory, and see nothing of help except for an unidentified scroll. I read it.

I was finally going to get a troll monk to the slime pits. Being chased by a dozen elephants, I ran for the stairs. As soon as I saw them a basilisk appeared at the edge of my vision and petrified me, allowing the elephants to catch up and maul me. I had so many good mutations..

Dungeon Crawl: Fuck This Game

Man, I would not be heading to the Slime Pits if a dozen elephants are more than a minor nuisance. I never go into side branches as soon as they become available (notable exception: Lair, and if things start getting too spicy on the way to the bottom I do another layer of the Dungeon or go back to Orc 1 or something.) If you find Lair on D:10, and go down to Lair:7, that's pretty close to fighting things you'd find on D:17, if you catch my meaning. I've never explored the Slime Pits (never had resist mutation and resist corrosion at the same time) but according to the Wiki it's a more difficult Rune than the Abyss, so yeah.


As far as my last death, my Octopode Venom Mage of Nemelex Xobeh got squashed when he drew from a Legendary Deck of Summoning and got a hostile Bone Dragon.

The elephants wouldn't have been a problem if there was a hallway to lure them into, and I wasn't aiming to clear the slime pits. My goal was to get to an altar of Jiyva as soon as possible.

Anyway, some clever individual had 3 Scorpios in his boss area, who beat me to a pulp in fairly short order. Looks like I have reached the point where things get really cheesy.

No, he's saying that the elephants should have been trivial in pretty much any circumstances for you to even consider doing any part of the slime pits.
Unless you get lucky (and find it outside), you don't get the altar till slime pits 6 (which requires you pretty much doing all the slime pits to get too).

Yeah, unless you are already worshiping Jiyva, I would strongly strongly recommend delaying entering the slime pits till you already have 1 rune, because that place is pretty nasty.

I fell into a pit and to the Underwater Coalition of zombies dreugh, bats, skeletons, and the orcish leaders.  underwater.

How did they. .-.  undead and bats and dreugh.  and underwater all at once?   Clever trap, worthy orcs.

I get mobbed zombies, both normal, dog, shocker, and smoker, and apparently arrow-proof spiders. Running away from town, I get attacked by a cougar, and then a bear. And I survived it all.

I get to a safe spot, start a bushfire to cook some spider meat(god knows how I get meat from them). I die of smoke inhalation while cooking.

DC:SS, natch. Should've invoked Trog's Regeneration as soon as I saw that ghost; he was an enchanter, and kept me confused and super poisoned the whole damn fight (and it was a hell of a fight, given how many heal potions and how few Cure I had,) and also hit me with a Corona so I couldn't try to hide. There was some invisible thing slapping at me too. Damn shame, that character had a Great Mace of Distortion, too.

Have a MiFi in progress who is covered in randarts and has 2 runes. So his eventual death should be a good read.

One of my less fortunate saves, Deep Elf Wizard #895, recently took a crystal spear to the back of the head courtesy of Roxanne. Apparently wands of disintegration don't work on her very well, despite common sense saying otherwise.

Dungeon Crawl: Stone Soup

Playing Killing Floor for the first time in a while. Gets to the last wave, I've got a stupid amount of money from somewhere, so I grab a grenade launcher and some pipebombs in addition to my standard AA12. I head downstairs to place the pipes, and the trader time runs out. The Patriarch then proceeds to spawn in the same room as me and promptly chainguns me to death before the camera returns to my view.

In a Starcraft 2 2vs2, my ally had broken the defenses of my enemy base, so i sent most of my army there, then suddenly... I swear i never saw so many banelings together, a dude who had been making them the whole game, when we explored he had nothing so we though he was a noob, seeing replay it seems he had them burrowed.
Welp, they broke though my bunkers and siege tanks, killed all my scv and my command center, and proceed to destroy whole base, i send my army, and suddenly a mothership of the protoss we were attacking appears from a cliff and teleports in a mass of carriers and oracles next to my ally army, while banelings annihilated my army and then proceed to attack my ally base with the few survivors, they didnt do a lot, but the protoss was able to defend.

In 2vs1 he didnt stood a lot of chances.
