I went in the water to try and recover some health, but I didn't realize that the cold water would actually hurt me until I was too far away from land to swim back.

Super Mario 64. I've gotten 3 stars in Snowman's Land and none of them have been Snowman's Giant Head...

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

Picked a fight with the wrong spear lord. Killed the instant I got in range.

After giving up on the Baboon King for now, I decided to simply take out the third land boss, the Boiling Lizard. After a false start of starting the battle and realizing I'm out of ice stakes(needed to destroy the scales he puts out), I get a very good battle going, very nearly killing him...right up to the point I run out of steam, and he flames me with his breath, taking out my party(leaving him with only a sliver of health, BLARGH). Well, I'm not THAT disappointed though, since that means I just need to level only a bit more and I can take him.

After a long and hard fight, I finally got Aurelia down to dead.  Unfortunately, the way it fell prevented me getting into the AI pod, so I couldn't finish it, it got back up, and I didn't have enough supply markers left to finish it off with my weapons :(

Probably no reason other than it giving them a larger B-peen.

There is one zombie approaching.

So I attack and kill it.

How many zombies are there now? If you said 'zero', guess again.

There are three zombies approaching, so I kill them.

There are now six zombies.

Repeat until the approaching-exponential growth of zombies causes my sword to break and character to be swarmed under a tide of brain-hungering undead.

Skeletons are so much more dangerous in my opinion, or at least until you get a bow of your own. They pretty much never miss, and deal two hearts on normal mode. Pair that with the knockback making it pretty much impossible to get to them, and "Aggro range of a skeleton" becomes "Aggro range of Death himself".

This has been happening to me since the update. I might build a trap of some sort, or just iron doors.

Not a death, but damn near close to one when I realized I was about to fight Magic Master without anyone being able to cast Reraise.

Wait so you didn't use that magic spell that lets you steal MP (Osmosis?) and run him completely out of MP? Cause that is how I've always done it, it only takes about 6 hours if you do it right :P just remember that you have to heal him so he doesn't kill himself as that is pretty much the only way to lose this fight.

I used Osmosis so much on the tower.  I kinda liked being forced to use something other than Mimic'd Blitzes and the auto-crossbow/chainsaw.  Then again, I was using save states unashamedly...

I came out of retirement with a couple pals to liberate some conservative funds.  I was lugging the drill through the back door (hurr) when one of them warned about a guard approaching.  I took out my pistol and took aim as he came around the corner... one shot one kill, but slightly too slow.  Not willing to give up (that drill was *heavy*!) we pressed on, successfully drilling our way into the safety deposit room.  So many locks to pick, so little time.  We got lucky and found some gold bars and cash in the first couple boxes, meeting our contract amount!  My friends wanted to book it, but I was halfway done picking another lock... just a few more seconds...
Having a single point of entry can be good for defense, but it means there's nowhere to run.  We were gunned down under waves of lead (then arrested).

I may well have a bunch of rockets to use
I may well have some new toys to fight with
But there is no way I can take down 4 striders and a butt-fuck infinity of hunters all at the same time with limited ammunition and half of the M-Device dispensers broken. No way.

The mission is seemingly impossible; guide your force of elves to fight their way past a large group of trolls taking their ease in a mountain pass, with precious little forest to provide haven. Fortunately, there are dwarves on the other side of the river, and while they are jerks who won't let you cross to avoid the trolls, they are sufficiently jerky to get pissed off at any troll who crosses the river and will charge across the map to kill the whole tribe, putting their sharp axes to good use and providing a welcome distraction.

Except, by some quirk of the AI pathfinding, not a single troll unit tried to take the shortcut through dwarf land.

Cue a slow grinding retreat back down the pass while those asshole dwarves get drunk off their asses. The dwarves do eventually enter the fray... with about four turns left in the mission, so there was no way to beat the time limit anyway. I didn't even last that long, sadly, as a plot-critical unit died in desperate defense of my home base.

I found that ramming the Hunters was faster than getting out of the car to shoot them (assuming that you could reliably hit them, of course). Memorizing the spawn order of the Striders also helps quite a bit so that you can rush to the points during the lulls in the attack, ready to blast them to kingdom come. Still, blind-dumb luck is your best friend here. I'm still not entirely sure how I managed to complete that section of the game. Nor am I entirely sure how one is supposed to keep all the buildings intact for the achievement...
