Target: some aircraft factory in Berlin. After crossingthe North Sea and making landfall somewhere ever Scandinavia, four 109s pounced. Within 5 seconds, 3 were going down, and the last one seemed to be running.

Things took a turn for the worse when we came close to our target. More fighters attacked. Our escorts were nowhere to be seen. One of the enemy 109s apparently crashed into one of our bombers, and two more collided during evasive manuevers. Our navigator got so lost we had to double back over Berlin and back again before we could make a run. We get to target, drop, and cause considerable damage to it.

Coming out wasn't pretty. Flak, flak was everywhere. Bad intelligence and/or bad guesswork on the position and/or range of the flak guns. Lost another bomber coming out of Leipzig. Our crew keeps taking on injuries, and I'm surprised none of them died from the flak.

Just heading into Cologne, taking more flak, our plane starts losing altitude. At around 7500ft(from 15000ft), I order everyone to bail.

>Only two worms left, one mine, one enemy.
>Mine's at 125ish HP, enemy at 25.
>He places mines around.
>I do rope tricks and get quickly to him.
>Decide to finish him using prod and knocking him into his own mine.
>It works out, mine explodes.
>Explosion knocks him back into my worm, reveals the water and then both our worms slide into the water.
>Draw

If it's the group i'm thinking of (early in the game), your best bet's to talk them away from there. If you fight them, unless you absolutely know what you're doing, you will get your ass handed to you on a plate.

Unfortunately, I never put anything into Persuade or anything like that. Should I just take my molotovs and do what they ask to get them to waive their fee?

I don't even know how, but I got my ass kicked twice in a row on Bespin: Platforms AKA my favorite map that I know inside and out. Even when I had Elite Training and the other team had no bonuses, they managed to fight to a standstill just outside the first Command Post on their side of the map. Even trying to fight past that point is just wasting our troop counter. Maybe if the Empire had gunships I could have taken one of their outer posts, but for now it looks like the Rebels have Bespin all to themselves.

Star Wars: Battlefront, playing Galactic Conquest. I eventually had to blow up Bespin with the Death Star, something that I normally save for Naboo or Yavin >:(

WULD NAH KEST right off a cliff.

So many times... I feel your pain.

Attempting to jump from the top balcony of the College of Winterhold (where the doors to the Arch-Mage's Quarters and Arcaneum are) to the lower balcony (where the doors to the Halls of Attainment and Countenance are), hoping I could abuse the geometry of the building to slow my descent and avoid hitting terminal velocity.

Ah, Bethesdabseiling.

Yeah, that works in pretty much any Gamebryo game, easing yourself down by colliding with pointy geometry.

That word. "Bethesdabseiling". I nominate it for "best portmanteau of 2013".

Gah! So close. I should have dropped the boarding party at the engines. And maybe should have grabbed the cloak too.

*artillery shells lands right next to me, ringing my ears and blurring my vision from the smoke*

"Shit that was clo-" KABOOM

I forgot that artillery always comes in salvos. On the other hand my lower torso may have set the 1942 Land Speed Record, so there's that.

I was mining out some buttons in an abandoned base. Then I heard a familiar "Sssssss"
I quickly switched to my sword and spun around, finding nothing. I was confused for a while.

Then the TNT trap activated.

The flooding river knocked down my two mills and few cabbage and rice farms, throwing my city into fit of famine. This caused severe understaffing and I had to turn off some industries and forts to even get critical buildings to work, like wells and such.

Unfortunately half a year later, tibetan city of Lhasa came in surpirse attack and curbstomped my understaffed fortifications and half-full forts. The battle of Chang-an lasted three months and not even the Yellow Emperor, Huang Di, could help against the damned tibetans.

Why would you put a button in your base that activated TNT in that room? It's like a danger room but useless.

But that would be implying that there's ever a reason to NOT use TNT. Except around redstone circuits, and even then there's plenty of room for exception.

He never said it was his abandoned base. It especially makes sense if he was destroying buttons - you'd know what the buttons in your base do, but buttons in an enemy base could be linked to dangerous traps and should be disabled promptly. Like this one!

Had low health, yet I foolishly decided head up to my Lure Plant silk farms, due to having run out of silk. I came a across a stray lure plant on the way and thought it would be a grand idea to relocate it. As I was moved in for the kill one of the damn eye sprouts sprang up behind me, and needless to say, my ass handed to me.

Thankfully, I had a touch stone activated, though it was a mile away from my base. This is the third time I died, and unless make an amulet or effigy, second to last time I'll die.

That was a few in game days ago. I've had a disastrous brush with some hounds that I barely survived, and I am now entering my second winter.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

That was about two real life days ago. I actually spawned next to this thing, and this is the inital result of trying to set up a farm. This is by far the largest spider nest I've ever seen, and it was/still has some gold nuggets scattered about in it.

Every dwarf, every dwarven man, women, and child, that comes to our forts will die there; it's truly sad when you think about it. And we ask our selves, why? Why do we push forward, knowing this fate, that we are destined for failure? Because, this game grasps the concept of mortality. Some games you can never lose, but we all stop eventually, causing a 'death' to those game's 'worlds'. Dwarf Fortress gives us a definite end, knowing that we will leave that world eventually, and move on to more.
