Crushed by the rotating stair-block-light-thing platforms in Chemical Plant Zone Act 2. Sonic games are a lot tougher than I remember them.

Oh hell yes. When I was young I *wanted* to enjoy them, due to liking the principles and characters, but I found them almost impossible. Even today I find them damn tough and I take damage everywhere.

You shatter the door with a mighty kick! By smashing it you activate the trap protecting the door.  Previously hidden runes on the door suddenly explode! Your iron boots are torn apart! 1 out of your heap of 2 sets of clothes is shredded! You die...

The aliens got pissed I kept chucking rocks, pots, and yetis at them.  They came 6 deep and trapped me in an admittedly rare shaft.  I jumped into my own escape bombs blast avoiding their overspammed terrain-destroying attack.

Lag killed me at the Marble Zone fight with Eggman. I've only been stuck on Marble Zone for ~4 years, no biggie...

Sonic the Hedgehog, the GBA port. I bought it in that blissful period before I knew that bad games (and by extension, crappy ports) existed.

Got surrounded by Ocelots and shot to pieces. Not exactly sure where I screwed up, but I guess it was when I got surrounded by the Ocelots.

I was chased around a large room by a very large creature that resembled an unholy cross between a dragon, a bull, and a Ninetales while trying to destroy its discarded scales using ice spikes in order to cool down the cave and throw it into a lethargic state.  I misjudged my ability to get through the heat given off by the scales and it caught me before I could destroy the largest pile of scales right behind it, proceeding to wipe my entire party of six in just three turns.

You die very quickly in Spring Yard Zone unless you take it sloooww... and steadyyyy.... and HOLY CRAP THERES A BUMPER AAAA WHERE AM I GOING WHERE ARE MY RINGS OMYGODSPIKES AAAAAAA *game over jingle*

Been playing this a lot myself lately. The other day I got to the Olmec, beat him, then got killed by a frog. I just sat starting at my computer in anger/disbelief for a good 5 minutes

Actually today I was playing and on the FIRST LEVEL I got the climbing gloves and compass from crates. Level 2 I accidentally fell in front of an arrow trap which knocked me onto some spikes.

I deployed the Hero-King of sagas past, with maxed stats and great skills, by himself.

Without any ******* weapons!

And the enemies COULDN'T EVEN HIT HIM or DEAL ANY DAMAGE!

I had to forfeit. I hadn't saved in a while, which is especially surprising considering my save-aholic style with this series.
