A fireman burned my face off with a flamethrower after I lightly tapped him in the stomach.

WHAT IS A FIREMAN SUPPOSED TO DO WITH A FLAMETHROWER?

Fighting motherfucking bees, yo.
That, and the other similar article linked from it, just made my day. Mainly because now I know that armored fighting vehicles, military aircraft, demolition gear, and antitank weapons are not only more legal than I ever realized, but affordable, too.

Personally, instead of the anti-tank weaponry, I'd buy the tank.

But then your tank would be destroyed by people with the anti tank weaponry. You should buy both.

Ah, but the people with anti-tank weaponry haven't bought any tanks, so you should buy flamethrowers instead to burn them out before they get into firing range.

Really, it's like rock-paper-scissors, but instead of rock crushing scissors and paper covering rock, you have explosions and horrible burn wounds.

But flame-throwers are short ranged weapons! Video games told me so!

(Okay, so they aren't as short as video games make them seem. Still no match for a decent anti-tank rocket though.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that before they were made to be against international law, flamethrowers were getting distances measurable in kilometers. Which is a pretty long way.

In most video games, modern weapons have much shorter range than they would in real life. Take sniper rifles, those can cover distances of a few kilometers in real life. Regular rifles have an effective range of 350-500m. Way longer than in video games, because that'd need huge map. Same for air combat, for instance. Modern AAM's have a range of a few 100 km, but playing video games on that scale is insane.

Games are perfectly capable of simulating that kind of distance, it's just only people who are into hardcore mil-sims and such are willing to actually walk across a 100 sq km+ battlefield.

Last time I died, I was trying to play Battlefield 3 but apparently too much crawling around taking my time in ArmA 2 has left me decidedly bad at arcade style fighting. Also being used to taking enemies out with 2 or 3 well-placed bullets instead of half a clip.

ARMA2 has maps big enough for that. As will its sequel, probably. It's not that insane, really.
It works really well. Though most people seem not to like it because it doesn't have the HD L33T TEXTURE MODELLING. Because some gamers are really petty like that. I don't really know why I'm complaining about that on Bay12 though.

After tossing around explosives like some deranged easter bunny for probably around an hour after a dozen or so attempts at the final level of a mayhem activity, I finally make it over the 800k threshold and am waiting for the combo bar to deplete when I get ran over by a freaking cop car and fail the activity because I got killed. Took my Reaver over Zurvan Amp Station, which we, the NC, had besiged, trying to route the TR.  Made a straffing run at the guns on the walls while dodging AA fire. I dodged right into a rock.

Dwarven Centurion bot and its falmer companion.  It kept one-hitting me at range with its steam blast, or the Falmer would hunt me down and dice me.  I don't think my poisoned arrows work on constructs, either.
