Playing DayZ for the first time.

Death 1, eaten by zombie before I found anything.
Death 2, apperantly can't hit a zombie right in front of me with a pistol (eaten by zombie)
Death 3, apperantly can't hit a zombie right in front of me with a pistol (eaten by zombie)
Death 4, freshly spawned shot by player while crawling towards a town.
Death 5, apperantly can't hit a zombie right in front of me with a shotgun (eaten by zombie)
Death 6, Shot by player, apperantly for my crowbar.
Death 7, apperantly can't hit a zombie right in front of me with a pistol (eaten by zombie)

Seriously is there something to the aiming system in this game I don't get?  I aim at a zombie, and it just doesn't do anything I unload clip after clip and its like I don't even hit.   I have killed ONE zombie with a gun so far.

Well, the game is Arma2 as far as aiming is concerned, not many modifications as far as I know from it (never played it because I'm waiting for Arma3, and free has no mod support). You can get some pretty decent accuracy even without scope, just holding your breath can get huge range on most rifles
I'd imagine the problem is that the zombies were right in front of you in the first place. They don't have any adverse effects from damage, so they can absorb huge amounts of daamage and still be as deadly I(as opposed to a badly wounded human player/AI who can only crawl and fire with no accuracy assistance, as well as poor accuracy in general)
Kill them from as far away as you can. Also the pistol probably has a lowish damage output. That might be part of the problem too.

Just finished clearing out a super mutant encampment and started walking towards the road. Spotting a truck in the distance, I rushed over fighting off a couple of rad scorps and some dogs. Jumped into the truck and made it all the way to the front where a safe and skill book where, when I crouched out of habit and saw the flashing danger sign right before a frag grenade landed next to me, followed by a missile to the head from one of the raiders I somehow completely missed in broad daylight. Fallout 3

Just spam everything, starting with Q and using Q whenever possible. Also use this build.
Knowing that, and being half-decent at LoL should get you quite far.

Or you can play Dota 2 for 10 games, then go back to LoL to beat everyone up.

This is correct, if my research in grade 3 still holds true, and that I'm not imagnining it. I used to be fascinated with volcanoes...
On that note, why does Vanilla not have volcanoes yet? We need a fire and brimstone themed biome...
