I've never actually played 2, so I've no idea of the comparisonю
The level of character creation doesn't extend beyond choosing a head and body, and you decking yourself out in various accessories.

All in all, I've had tons of fun with it so I'd say it's a pretty worthwhile purchase.

That's about the same, then. I believe 2 had 11 (8 male, 2 female, 1 robot) heads and bodies, then there was a cheat code you could enter (don't remember what it was now) and cycle through the NPC appearances. Is it too a sort of 'three days to build alliances and influence the ending' deal like the first two?

There's no real time limit, the ending you get is based on how you react to various events that occur around Amana, and you can just choose the "leave" option to finish the game if you want to start over. This one lets you just unlock NPCs to play as normally, once you reach a certain Samurai rank you unlock any NPCs that you kill as possible bodies to use.

Hmm, I might give it a shot then. ^^^

On topic, the AI-boss battles in MGS: Peace Walker are really hard. o.O Even with the guided missile launcher it took me three tries to beat the second one...
