OT: Chose a tanking/defender character, with the best armor and reasonable combat skills. Failed every single armor save, missed all but one attack, and got dicked over constantly by random events, and thus was the first to suffer permanent death.

EDIT: I just realized that Armor Save is not a term used in this game. I blame my reading of the WH40k rulebook earlier today for screwing up my memory.

I spawned chef/changeling. Early on I got pegged (and I mean 5 seconds in early on, before anything happened) as the changeling by security but I managed to bluff my way out of it. Then I followed the officer around until the captain fired at me, so I got the officer to take my side and drive him off. Both of us were injured so I followed him to the armory and played the friend, trying to help him break in and reviving him when he got KO'd by the shock bars... until we got to a dark hallway. Paralysis sting, grabbed his crowbar, and started swinging for the fences the second he hit the ground.

And then the fucking captain shows up before I can grab him, doesn't believe me when I say that I KO'd the changeling, and kills me with a fireaxe.

Addendum: I survived the round by regenning, but still lost when someone nuked the station before I could steal the plans (noob, so I had no clue where they are) and escape. I got two people, though. :3

So I landed on the dreaded sticky-surface living planet.

The awayteam didn't do any good and actually only the captain survived. He managed to get to the rocket and fight with swarm of bats and then few more blobs came.

So I said 'fuck it', positioned plasma gun at the ship itself and exploded the captain along with few aliens.

You're so wrong. Majini and Ganado are not zombies. They are humans mind-controlled by parasites. Huge difference. The zombies in RE1-3 stand around until they sense food and then try to eat it; the Ganado in RE4 are clearly going about their lives until Leon shows up, and then they try to kill him only because he's a threat to Saddler's plans. I don't know what the deal with the Majini is. It's probably some odd mixture of the T-Virus with Las Plagas that makes them run around in circles like idiots... even so, there are one or two instances where they are clearly able to communicate, such as the public assembly at the end of the first level. In any case, neither of the latter attempt to eat the protagonist/s or behave like zombies; the Ganado just try to kill Leon/carry off Ashley, and the Majini either attempt to infect Chris/Sheva (their annoying-ass front grab attack) or just kill them. In RE4, only Krauser and JJ have guns; in RE5, only a few Base Majini and whatever they call JJ in RE5 do.

Anyway, on-topic: There were cultists on the station, so I hid on a locker. Things went pretty good until I started starving and left to go get some food and run back. I got caught, converted, and assisted in the summoning of an eldritch abomination that ripped all nine of us to shreds upon its arrival before it went on to destroy the rest of the station. Even as a ghost watching the destruction, I felt sorry for the poor lone survivor who made it to the escape shuttle, only to have it torn apart before it left because he didn't have the authority to hasten its departure.
