The Legend of Zelda

The last dungeon was surprisingly painful.  So many blue wizzrobes, and the new flying enemies are the worst.  Had to leave to buy potions twice, once including when I finally figured out the underground paths to get to Ganon.  I made it to him with 1/2 of a heart left, and died immediately.

The fight with him was bizarre.  I'm not sure if there's any way to know where to attack, or how you're really supposed to dodge the fireballs.  I ended up using both potion doses before realizing I had to shoot him with an arrow once he turned brown.  I'm actually not sure if I had to find the arrow item in the dungeon or if any arrow would have worked, so I'm very glad I found that before I made it to him since I'm betting it was required.

Well, I guess I'm satisfied until Tears of the Kingdom comes out now.

Yes, you need the silver arrow-- I believe there's a hidden Wiseman somewhere that says it. Also, there's a Second Adventure mode (I think that's the name) where the dungeons are changed, secrets reorganized, and generally more challenging.

...Also, there s just something that feels wrong about spoiler-tagging a game that's older than a lot of people here...

It's older than me by a year too, which was a bit wild to realize when I was playing it.  Despite its age, I was also pretty surprised to see just how much of it was recognizable considering I started the series with Ocarina of Time.

I was playing stellaris as an aquatic race of expansionists who had their expansion cut off.  So we appropriated others.  Had more slaves than nonslaves.  AI murderbot made itself out neighbor, and then woke up the Khan on its first try.  Khan beelined to me.

I kid, I kid... but none of the 3D ones really felt right to me.   Even the DS ones which were weird from a design and narrative standpoint meshed better for me.

...Having said that, I kind of really want to see a modernized Zelda 2... It's basically a metroidvania anyways.

It probably helps that OoT was the first one I really put effort into, and finished.

I required a guide for it that my mum had also bought with it (it was a Christmas present with the console) and I think I needed to look up some things years later when I played LttP too.

Possibly also a consequence of how I was playing it. I was playing LttP just to have finished it, on an emulator at my computer desk, which was not the most comfortable way to play games.

As long as we're laying out opinions, the one that I played first was lttp, but as much as I liked oot I found links awakening the most meaningful to my child brain

the idea that the bad guys had understandable motives when most other bad guys were trying to summon captain pollution for teh lulz was impactful

My economy has been fucked over because the rural cunts are holding it hostage.

I have spent the past 15 years trying to get proportional tax passed. The rural folk have opposed it ceaselessly. I come back to try and pass it and the game causes stall after stall after stall. I cancel and try again, stall after stall after stall.

I manage, through sheer luck of the draw, to drag it up to 45% of passing. Does the game let it pass? FUCK NO! Stall after stall after stall!

I can't suppress them because they're running the government, I can't bolster the guys supporting it because I have to use the authority to stop myself going bankrupt.

Took a mission to stage a raid to exfiltrate someone from a neutral colony. Came in hot, with my transponders off. Success on the raid... but my rating with the entire neutral faction went to shoot-on-sight. Turns out there are a lot of bounty hunters, scavengers, and miscellaneous other fleets that you just don't notice normally that become a big deal when you piss off their faction.
