Found out that, while a kraken can't really damage even a low level platinum dragon, they can, apparently, swallow one whole. Whoops.

What a coincidence that is exactly how I died when I played as the platinum dragon.

RIP Ludger, I hardly knew ye. In fact, I hardly knew you so much, that I didn't realize there were three of you in my squad until two of you died in the same battle. All I ever noticed was that you getting your face punched in seemed to happen an awful lot...

Punched by a trash demon with a shield.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I think the punches from these guys is actually the most damaging thing I've encountered up to this point in the game, including punches from hell knights.  Though, thinking on it, I don't think I've let one of them hit me directly yet.

Said trash demon with a shield is the first and only thing to kill me in combat so far, though I've died a few times to falling out of bounds like a doofus.  I've come close to dying a few times, but I somehow went from 40 armor and like 60 HP to dead in a few seconds from that joker.

Daggerfall Unity: There is a trap in a plot dungeon the island the court sorceress is on with a huge spiral stairway. Partway up the stairs is a wall that moves out and pushes you off the stairs. This is annoying, but fairly minor damage. I killed the 2 vampires at the bottom (which could have been a problem if I'd let them, but I'm a powerful enough mage that I can just not do that). Going back up the stairs, the trap went the opposite way, trapping me inescapably in a tiny hallway.

Looking online, the devs have decided that is the way the trap *should* work.

Daggerfall doesn't have autosaves, so I just lost 4 hours of playtime to reload.

I got this wand, with 7 slots in it. I gave it this loadout:

Electric arc -> Add mana -> triple-scatter-> Triplicate bolt -> Triplicate bolt

And as a result I got this devastating boom-stick that shredded everything. Electric arc is no joke!

I completely destroyed the ice caves with this wand alongside the help of a rapid-fire spark-bolt wand for distant targets.

I ended up looting a wand with a +Damage modifier (great for the boomstick). And in a shop, I found a "Library wand" filled with a bunch of random and awesome spells. Stuff like homing projectiles, concentrated light etc.

Point is, I had a lot of tools to experiment with. I was testing wand combos in the holy mountain for at least 10 minutes and I had so many spells that I had to throw some on the floor. I accidentally throw one of my spells into the fish tank, so I dive in to grab it.

ZAP!

I died from electrocution! It turns out that if your wand has an electricity spell, it acts like a thunderstone and electrocutes the water your in! All that experimentation and I never even got to test the wand out in the field.

Literally hours from completing research for the vaccine. However, the bacteria had spread far too fast for me to even begin to fully react to. Not even joking, about 1/3 of the world's countries across all continents were infected within the span of 3 days. Containment was impossible. Even the containment and quarantine measures I did enact failed because everyone immediately said "Fuck that" and started an orgy in Egypt followed by the Rio Olympics. Nevermind that fatalities were in the millions at this point.

I tried enacting media manipulation to keep my authority from declining, but that failed literally a few days before vaccine research was complete, and my remaining authority ran out literally before research was done. Presumably, upon handing me my notice of termination, the world leaders deleted all the research and said "I want that! I want death!"

Middle-Earth: Shadow of War.

I just made it to the fight pits, but I've been doing a lot of online revenge-getting (killing orcs who killed other players), and collecting some high-level orcs to play with. The fighting pits are automated fights where you see an enemy, hopefully check their strengths and weaknesses, and find an orc you've captured to fight them. You can sometimes beat a higher-leveled orc (maybe 5, theoretically 10) if you can take advantage of their weaknesses, but also the game cheats a lot so probably not. In the fight to show how it worked, a level 4 orc beat my level 32 half to death before mine fought back and 2-shotted him.

So this enemy I was about to fight was a normal level 15 enemy, had a caragor (like a worg, but less licensing issues because it's a giant tiger instead of a wolf), but was terrified of fire. I had a legendary (top tier of 3, normal is lowest) level 42 with a fire weapon, so it should be easy. Enemy charges, my orc grabs the enemy and throws them off the caragor, then turns to face the caragor. Caragor gets his leg, he gets up, slashes the caragor with the fire weapon, then freaks out because he's also terrified of fire. So it's my idiot, crying in the middle of the arena, the flaming caragor running around scared, and the clearly outclassed enemy not sure what to do. Caragor runs by and lights my guy on fire, slowly taking down his health. Eventually the enemy is also lit on fire, and also panics.

Turns out the enemy became enraged by the fire just before dying, and killed my orc before the match ended.

I decided to make a 8x8 board of size 3 maps around my and my friend's settlement. After preparations, I set out and he went with me.
We explored the first 8 maps and were comming back. But when I was crossing a river, I noticed network lag. Upon realising it I disconnected, but by the time the server realised, I was dead by drowning.

My friend tried to recover my items, but did not find them and I had to spend the night running away from monsters.

So two days of work on mapping wasted because of a minute of network lag.

So rogue adventure has this one skill that gives you two resistance but starts you with two random debuffs. Theoretically it's good, if you have some way of handling the debuffs. Two resistance is a minimum of about a 30% boost on starting defense cards, ferex. It's not weak.

Moral of that story: Don't take the coal if you don't have a goddess tear. Don't do it. Other debuffs are survivable, the ones the tear protects from are not. You will get silence+block on turn one in multiple battles, be unable to do literally anything, and then you, like me, will die.

So because I evidently don't hate myself enough, I've taken to playing Plague, Inc. without using the pause function.

I just managed to fail via political pressure against Bacteria on Brutal with 3 people left infected around the world, after having fully deployed the vaccine (...are bacteria vaccines even a thing?) around the world.

Got to the penultimate floor of the game and died because I walked into a room with 3 boss enemies + random trash mobs. Was so damn close to winning with that character too.

Middle Earth:Shadow of War

Fighting an enemy who was high-enough level that it took a lot of hits to kill, because longer repetitive fights are more epic /s. To make the game worse more challenging worse they implemented a system where whatever attacks you use, the enemy becomes immune to. So the enemy with a shield (immune to regular attacks) can only be beaten by special attacks, jumping over to stun them, or shooting them to stun them. By the time they had half health, they were immune to those 3 attacks. And they regain health slowly, so running off to build up combo power to do special attacks so you can do literally any damage at all means they've healed up from your last attack. And their damage grows as quickly as your health, so you still die after failing 2 attacks in a row (which you do, because they're immune).

I think I'm done with this bad game.

Yeah that ruined that game for me too. I ran into the exact same scenario except instead of sticking it out, once he started shrugging off everything I could do I just turned the game off. Shadow of Mordor was decent, I dunno why they thought this was an improvement (or even necessary).

A spiritual defeat in Battle Brothers: I often accept escort missions to travel across the map without having to bother paying for food and get some extra coin, but this one backfired hard.

It was a simple 2-skull escort to a location two days away that offered a flat rate upon completion, no combat bonus. The first half of the trip was fine. Then, I had six encounters, including two champions, for a total of around 80 kills.

The job didn't even pay enough to cover my equipment repair costs, even after selling the salvage.
