That's actually hilarious. My last "death" comes from a loss of all my main mechs and mechwarriors after an RNG that'd make X-Com say "slow down, bro, give him the illusion of a chance at least".

Stuck D-Horse in front of a road to stop a vehicle from passing by with a prisoner so I could ambush it.

They drove right over D-Horse.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

1. Order D-Horse to defecate on the road.

2. Let the jeep pass by over the horse feces.

3. ???

4. PROFIT!!!

While I admit I suffered from too much sandboxia to get very far in the actual plot of MGSV, I can tell you that I found this out and tried it myself and the results are satisfying.  I donno what snake feeds that thing, but it must turn into some unholy mix of banana peels, animal birthing liquid, and whatever slip and slides are made of after passing through the digestive tract of that animal.  A pile of horse crap should not do that to a car.

My own death: Playing warframe trying to help a friend grind parts for Equinox.  In a underwater section and got pushed into the wall by a water jet.   Got stuck and couldn't get out.  The game's unstuck command did not help.  The game is normally good about that, issues like this are rare, excepting specific areas, the place I was in being one of them, and normally you don't need the full team to complete an objective, and as long as half the party reaches the end it will consider the mission a success for everyone anyway after a short 1 minute delay.
This however is an assassination mission, a boss fight.  And the boss won't spawn til everyone is in the room.  I had to abandon the mission.

My best character yet. Bronan II was on the third floor of the Sokoban puzzle, more than halfway through solving it. He had slain cockatrices and golems and barrow wights, even some winter wolf cubs and a gelatinous cube. He carried Cleaver, a gift from his god. Things were looking...well, not up exactly, but far from dire.

Alas, Bronan II forgot one very very basic tenant of dungeoneering: always remember to stay well-fed. While pushing boulders around, he fainted from sheer hunger. A swarm of bats, normally easy meat for the mighty warrior, sensed weakness and swooped in. They bit the barbarian again and again, and when Bronan II finally regained consciousness he was on death's door.

Bronan II was in a jam, alright. He had some magic wands, though nothing that would save him. He had numerous potions and scrolls, but they were all unidentified. Using the correct one could save his life; using the wrong one meant certain death. The barbarian decided that the best course of action would be to write the sacred word Elbereth on the floor, hopefully scaring the evil beasts away long enough for him to regain some measure of strength and mitigate some of the risks of blind potion tasting or scroll-reading. In fact, he wrote Elbereth twice.

Perhaps his handwriting, never the best, was just too poor to be effective. The unfazed bats dived in and tore open Bronan II's neck, and he died with his quest unfulfilled.

I'm level freakin 4, did you *have* to spawn a raider with a fatman and power armor on a high walkway?

"Surprise you're asplode" with a mere second of warning is just a fact of life without blast-resistant power armor, I guess.  Sure it's rare, but it's so stupid.  They target way too fast with those things.

Heh, spot on.  Corvega in general is pretty tough right now (almost entirely due to molotov spam) but at least there's interesting cover between the exposed areas.

Then there's New Vegas, where the legion assassin scaling table is implemented backwards, so you get heavily-armored elite centurions running after you with armor-negating fusion lances when you're level 2.

Wait, *that's* why I died so easily to Legion assassins at early levels??  I don't know about legionnaires using fusion lances, heh, but I was extremely frustrated by the high DR of their skin-exposing cosplay.

My conclusion was to expect similar DR for the rest of the game, and focused on armor piercing weapons like plasma/gauss/anti-materiel rifles.  Which I guess prepared me for endgame threats just fine, heh.  Legion bug or not, there's never enough dakka to fell a deathclaw with 10mm.

The elite centurions roll for the most powerful melee weapons in the game, including fusion lances. And yeah, the table's backwards... The lower your level, the more powerful assassins get sent after you. When you reach the end of the game, all they can throw at you are a couple scraggly leatherheads with a couple throwing spears and a rusty machete...

It's just one of those little bugs undocumented features we've grown to know and love from Besthesda.

Also, heh... Deathclaws with 10mm? Try it with .22 LR, as per the GRA achievement. Honestly, it's probably easier to do it with the damn boxing tape...

Oh huh, I'm pretty sure I've never picked up a fusion lance (called thermic lance, I think).  I don't remember this weapon at all, and I think I would.  There's a good chance they killed me with it a few times in my first playthrough, after which I ragequit for a year :P  Their armor really upset me.
When I came back, I waited until higher levels to take on the Legion, so would have missed seeing this weapon on the corpses.

Thanks for explanation, I can't believe I never noticed that in at least 3 full anti-Legion playthroughs!  I guess DR-piercing ammo is a great equalizer.

Y'know, I knew there was something wrong with "fusion lance", I did... But I couldn't quite put my finger on *what* was wrong.

Anyways, they're silly weapons and they should feel bad. Bah.

Died 20 times fighting the Death Wish version of Mustache Girl, I can reliably reach her 3rd phase with only 1-2 damage and her final phase isn't as terrible as I thought it would be, as my health (slowly) regenerates, her attacks however are even more insane than they were before, though I did manage to get three hits in before I died.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Edit: Just beat her after 26 deaths, unfortunately a few seconds too late to achieve the last bonus objective.

DF doesn't mold players into its image - DF merely selects those who were always ready for DF.

Minecraft UI is very simple. There's only so many ways you can implement "simple" without copying something. We also gonna complain that it uses WASD?
