I did manage to get the thing in the end, - the trick was to just sprint at the scroll as soon as you could run under the laser, and then sprint back as fast as possible before the laser caught you (activating the turrets that shot me multiple times).

I kept hitting said laser trying to fiddle around with grapple points...

My ground forces are basically invincible. Everybody has Titan or Archangel armor, there's enough plasma to go 'round, and I'm starting to get psionics as well. Sectopods are a problem; the first one surprised me and killed a Heavy, but with better preparation I could even take care of those reasonably well.

My air forces, though, are woefully under-equipped. I lost a Firestorm and an Interceptor over North America, both with Phoenix Cannons, to a "Very Large" UFO. That's thousands of credits and about a month down the drain.

Climbing death mountain.  Found a guardian, figured I could take it out.  Blocked 2 lazers with my guardian shield but failed to reflect either.  Shield breaks.  Master sword a leg off, get lazored again, live thanks to an ability, but ragdoll.

....off the side of the mountain. Hit a rock on the way down, reraise hp gone immediately, saved from death again by a pocket fairy.  Finally hit the road at the bottom of the cliff.   Dead.

Some undead angel looking jerk kept firing lazers at me til I was deadified.
Some undead angel looking jerk kept firing lazers at me until I hid in a house with a couple mushroom crabs, then used some aoe light attack to turn me into crystal. Because hiding is against the rules.
Some undead angel looking jerk kept firing lazers at me until I hid in a different building that was unfortunately already occupied by the hard to hit 20 attacks a second wall climbing bastards.

I am thinking of playing some Team Fortress 2 again. I am re-learning my tricks on the bots.

It is absolutely mortifying to be dominated by a sniper bot.
