I'm sure that is the best way. The difficulty comes in finding someone(s) interested in playing and then working out the needed coordination :P

I was running low on fuel, and my ship was damaged enough that I knew I wouldn't be able to survive the misjump that low fuel can cause. I'd wrecked every hostile ship in the system, so there were no more resources to get from there.

But there were this neutral terran freighter, and its single fighter escort. If I wrecked them, I might just be able to get the fuel I needed. I wasn't sure I could take on a terran fighter. I'd never fought them before, but I'd seen the ease with which they took down pirates and hostile aliens. But if I took out the freighter first, I could just scoop up its fuel, and get out of dodge if the fighter turned out to be more than I could handle. Seemed like a plan.

Two heavy missiles later, the freighter was drifting wreckage, and the escort was heading towards me. Then two more fighters suddenly appeared to my right, swooping in, lasers firing. I went for plan B, activated my boosters and roared towards the wreckage of the freighter. I missed the fuel pickup by a sliver, shooting past the wreckage with nothing to show for it. I had to turn around, and try again. Before I even got close, the three fighters had locked on to me. My shield disappeared in seconds, and my remaining hull in less than that, leaving my ship an expanding cloud of fire and debris. Oh well.. there is always next time.

For some reason, I tend to assume that monsters won't do the same attack twice in a row. So, I see khezu finish an AOE lightning blast. "Great! There's my chance," I think, using the glaive's pole vault to start an attack.

Nope, the khezu actually has an AOE with a shorter charge-up that it can do immediately after the regular one. Presumably to mess with noobs that are too infatuated with the insect glaive to actually pay attention.

MH4U.
All the gen 1 monsters are like that. Have you noticed how monsters like Tetsucabra or Zamtrios have fast-paced fights, while monsters like the Raths or Khezu tend to have fights with a lot of waiting around for their attacks to finish? It's a difference in design philosophy between 1st/2nd and 3rd/4th gen MH.
Doctor Seregios will see you now.

I am frustrated by my repeated attempts to try and play through Duke Nukem 3D. My pride doesn't let me play on a lower difficulty than the second highest (Come Get Some) since I'm fully capable of playing through Doom 1 and 2 on Ultraviolence.

I keep running out of ammunition and enemies are really quick on the trigger. I think I have to get use to playing Duke Nukem 3D slower than I play Doom, clear out rooms using more corner strafing as well as remembering to use inventory items. Maybe if I thought of it more like Jedi Knight 2 than Doom. The pigcops deal a lot of damage, take two shotgun blasts and they're hitscan.

I had a good DsFi going, with some nice mutations (on-kill healing) and decent rings/armor/weapons.

Then I fell three floors to D:11, which was a small floor filled with relatively powerful monsters and an even more terrifying ghost of me. I eventually died after taking ~25 negative energy damage in a single shot from my ghost.

Got launched off another cliff, by another cyclops. This time there were actually two of them, but one was on the ground at that particular moment.

Whilst returning to the main base to refill my energy and oxygen, I flew too hard into the door and died. I respawned, went outside to gather the gear off my corpse, which was laying on the catwalk outside, and noticed that the welder was missing. Apparently I had it in hand when I died, dropping it inside a gravity well. I flew "down" in the direction where it fell, hoping to catch up to it. Instead, I discovered that my corpse had somehow gotten down there before I did, and I crashed into it before I could stop, killing me again. I never found the new corpse, costing me the stuff I was carrying.

After buying some new clothes, I picked up a list of assassination targets, one of whom was a cop that shows up if you cause enough trouble. I start shooting stuff, some cops show up, I shoot them, and then the target shows up. I empty three pistol clips into him before the pantless bastard goes down. Then I ran from the rest of the cops. I hide for awhile, but eventually, three cop cars slam into me at once, and cops with shotguns finish me off before I can get up and run.

Healing a dungeon as my brilliantly named argonian "Heals-From-Hiding".  Tried to jump on top of a box because the healing needed was pretty light.  Not realizing that a mini-boss was pulled.

Instead of landing on the edge of one of the boxes I ended up landing in the box.  Right when the miniboss was dropping a circle of death on me. Couldn't get out in time and died in the box.  My party  could not find my corpse during the fight to rez me, telling me I hid too well.
