In a temple to the far east, to a time in the future, but years not too distant, a formidable extermination squad arose from the ashes of the apocalypse to take care of a Heavenly Father and a Fierce Ape. There, the team leader ordered the squad to split up, in the hopes that the divided attention would lure everyone away from converging with two threats behind their delicious rumps. Lo and behold, when one medic - a Kanon Daiba, thought it was a good idea to regroup, with the fierce claws of the quadrupedal father in tow. Thus, the party suffered an unceremonious death soon after, with everyone being throttled around by the gods-damned ape and torn apart in half by the Tiger-With-A-Human-Face.

Such is the life of a God Eater.

Can Knuckles not jump as high as Sonic? With Sonic, you're suppose to jump as the robot is at the end of its forward step, so that you go over the hand(which kills you if hit) and hit the torso. If Knuckles can't do that, maybe wait until you can glide under the arm instead?

Kanoko still kicking my ass. Getting better at dodging porridge and knives, although I'm still making heavy use of bombs. Stage 4 killed me four times and Aya and Sanea both killed me once, so I had only 1-2 spare lives when I got to her. Got to her final spell sign with no extra lives. Doesn't seem that hard, just like a vaguely souped up version of one of Reimu's spell signs. Should be easy. Around 30 seconds of effortless dodging later, the spell sign still isn't over. Panicking, I realize she's gone blue and invulnerable at about a third of her life bar and I didn't notice. Looking up at the health bar distracts me from my amulet-dodging fugue and I get slain.

The team's journey to Canada, which HAD been going well, fell apart in a remarkably short time. No food was found for several days, cars ran out of gas far more quickly than should have been possible. Eventually, they had to make a mad dash through an abandoned factory.

Ursa, a berserker and the leader, bought it almost immediately. Surrounded by zombies the instant the group entered the factory and with no room to maneuver, he didn't last long.
Grifen, the team medic and second-in-command, stuck around long enough to grab Ursa's pistol. Good thing she did, as the factory was a pitch-black maze packed full of the undead. Even with the pistol and her two back-up team members, she was badly wounded in the escape.
After getting back on the road again, Lonk found the White Sword! Sweet!
Except that Grifen was killed on a golf course immediately afterwards.
Food was completely gone.
Just a short time later, Billy had an accident. Billy was an odd fisherman whose abnormally powerful firearms shook the earth. Well, he somehow managed to drop his shotgun, resulting in insta-death for both him and Lonk.

Darn it.

Decided to try a level 10 dungeon(the hardest), just to see what kind of enemies are in there(and loot). Before I take but 10 steps past the entrance, I'm swarmed by over a dozen natives armed with rifles in a narrow hallway with no cover, and each rifle bullet can take off at least half my health.

Knuckles does jump slightly lower, and you do (IIRC) have to glide. And get it just right :(

Decided to indulge nolstalgia since Kanoko's not going anywhere anytime soon and replayed EoSD, expecting it to be easy.

And until goddamn Stage 4, it was. No deaths, only a few overly cautious bombs. I even defeated Icicle Fall without bombing for the first time!

Stage 4 beat the shit out of me. Patchouli kicked me while I was down when I decided to take her spell signs to the face instead of Master Spark parrying them like I usually do. Those spell signs are still hard, even after all I've been through. I still got past Sakuya just fine and had no problems with Stages 5 or 6.

Then Remilia. Remilia is as wimpy as ever. If ZUN was going for a "Strong, but unskilled" vibe with her, they succeeded. Sure she vomits forth absurd amounts of scarlet-flavoured bullets, but they're poorly aimed and predictable. The only hard part about Remilia is her final spell sign, and that's only because its so hard to actually hit her during it. I entered the boss fight with one life and no bombs. I also entered her final spell sign with one life and no bombs, being completely unharmed by her other attacks. Her final spell sign isn't that hard, but its very very LONG, especially since she's bomb immune during it. I got maybe two-thirds of the way through her health bar before spasming into bullets twice in quick succession. If I'd used the three bombs I died with instead of running face first into a near-stationary bullet, I'd probably have won.

TL;DR: Remilia is adorably enthusiastic, but ineffectual, whereas Stage 4 is Hell Incarnate

I've found Stage 4 to be pretty damn hard in both EoSD and PCB. Not sure why.

Also, Remilia should be immune to bombs throughout the whole battle, or at least always during any of her spellcards. Flandre is most certainly immune to bombs period.

I thought I'd be able to easily wipe out Cerulean City's gym with Pikachu.

I forgot, the gym leader's Pokemon are usually a good five or ten levels higher than yours when you arrive. Despite the type advantage, Starmie tanked Thunder Shock like a pro and proceeded to wipe each of my mons in a single Bubble.

Pokemon Yellow. WHY DON'T THEY HAVE GEN 2 ON THE VIRTUAL CONSOLE ALREADY

Holy shit I'm an idiot. Forget the thing on Rannoch, forget picking Kaidan over Ashley, forget all the things I've done wrong in the entire trilogy, this is the single dumbest and yet most hilarious thing I've ever done.

I revived a statue that I shouldn't have. Then, despite the plaque giving me a warning of exactly what was coming, I refused to do the (very easy) thing that would have prevented my death.

I got my poor little M5 (a light fighter good only for scouting) into a fight with a Xenon Q (a big nasty capital ship) On purpose mind you! I wanted to see just how ineffective my ship was (I saved first of course).

The M5 I was piloting (I forget its name) was chosen for speed over just about everything else, AFAIK it is the second fastest ship you can buy in the game (it has significantly better shields than the fastest, but is only very slightly slower). Amazingly I could make run after run on the Xenon with little to no damage. After looping around from the last run I would turn in, heading straight into a storm of energy weapons fire. Some quick jinking would allow me to thread between the incoming, then I would let loose with my (relatively puny) guns. If every shot hit I would take off ~1% of the Q's shields by the time my capacitor ran dry, then it was time to pull away to line up for another run. If I lined up right I didn't have too much trouble escaping, as most of the turrets seem to fire forward or to the sides, some random jinking and fleeing straight by the stern worked fairly well (although I would take a light hit or two sometimes).

Eventually I messed up a tiny bit when rolling in to attack and hit one of those big nasty energy bolts head on (and that was the end for my poor scout fighter).

Sadly the Q seemed to regenerate shields almost as fast as I could take them off, so he was still at 98%, clearly I need more firepower...

I may owe [Sweet precious]Remilia an apology. After getting utterly dunked on in MoF, I decided to try Hard Mode. Hard Mode... isn't THAT different then Normal. Rumia is still pathetic, Stage 4 is still hell and Remilia still can't aim for shit. But there are definitely more bullets on-screen. Ironically, the one who benefits most from this is freaking HONG, whose final spell sign did more damage to me then anything else did. Hard!Patchouli is almost a downgrade, since some of her most difficult spell signs got easier. Sakuya was more trouble, but is still absurdly vulnerable to Master Sparks. But Remilia proved more troublesome then usual. If Remilia before was like someone trying to kill a bug with a machine gun, Hard!Remilia is someone trying to kill a bug with a flamethrower. Oddly enough, Remilia's weakest non-spell[Knoife spiral] is still absurdly pathetic. At least Rumia's green whippy thing goes in unexpected directions sometimes. I endured to the second last spell sign and died there, not quite understanding how the barrage worked. Curious, I used a continue to scope out her last spell sign.

Scarlet Gensokyo is pathetic. Its just bad. I beat that spell sign without losing a life or using a bomb. Remilia should feel ashamed of herself for using that.

Still a loss because I had to use a continue, but I'm confident that I'll be able to beat Hard in another playthrough or two, once I familiarize myself with all the new spell signs.
