I once hacked a file in Empire Earth to let me give my civilization weird bonuses...one of them let me pile seven "15% faster artillery firing speed" onto my civ.  Literal lead hose, you couldn't tell where one shell ended and the next one began.  Woefully ineffective most all of the time, but utterly hilarious in online games, and...that had nothing to do with your story.

Oh it was great against buildings!  They pretty much vanished instantly.  Units on the other hand, well, this artillery arced way up in the sky and had no concept of leading its targets, nor of splash damage IIRC.  So while I was sitting around being a tool with my lead hoses, they were enjoying the other things they spent their points on to kill me with.
