I had a nearly perfect game going as a Vine Stalker Fighter. All resists maxed, max piety with Zin, +9 Eveningstar of Freezing. The works. Then I go into the Depths. Its nasty, but nothing my Sanctuary and innate defensive abilities can't handle. Then I'm running away from a deep troll shaman with lowish health and no MP to use Sanctuary or Imprison. I have boots of running, I think. I can outrun it, I think. It kills me with a pair of lucky hits. In retrospect, it probably hasted itself and I just didn't see the little tiny chevron above its shoulder. If I'd KNOWN about that, I could have blinked away, hasted myself too, and gone back up to the previous level to heal. But I overlooked it and got dead.

Dungeon Crawl: Stone Soup

The worst part was that I'd had absurdly bad luck earlier, and somehow survived. I had Nemelex's wrath over my head up until Lair and fought my way through the Orcish Mines with negative Int because of Brain Worms. Either of those SHOULD have gotten me hella dead. But they didn't, often by a tiny margin. And then, once by all rights I SHOULD have been wrecking everyone and everything, I make a tiny mistake and end up hella slain.

Just had two incredibly painful games.

The first, three people go offlane leaving me with no one for my Winter Wyvern support in the safelane.  I say someone should join me, so the... support Pugna TPs down?  Wat?  He's clearly new too as he repeatedly charges into combat with an Ursa Dazzle duo when he's not even at full health.  This leaves two farm hungry heroes, Zeus and Juggernaut, in the same lane, while two supports try to hold down the other land.  Zeus claims he called top from the start but actually had bot selected for most of the pick process (trolling or just embarrassed, not sure).  Predictably, his lane goes badly and the Jug says he'll report him.

Zeus takes this to fucking heart and starts arguing with this guy not to report him.  For the entire game.  "Maybe if you report me I'll just, like, stop playing.  Cause what else can you do to me then?"  He also threatens to report Jug, and says, "why are you reporting me, report ___" where blank is at varying points everyone on the team except me (I managed to consistently have best or second best K/D for the entire game despite supporting).  Then at one point during the game, Zeus says "someone should get the gem."  I think he means buy one to counter Bounty Hunter so I say I'll buy dust instead.  Turns out no, he bought a Gem of True Sight as Zeus then died and dropped it and was telling us to pick it up.  For those who don't play DoTA, this is an item that drops when you die and anyone can pick it up.  On a squishy mage, on a team that is being repeatedly wiped.

Next game no is calling anything so I decide to go Undying since he gives no shits.  Game starts and I tell teammates I can go top or bottom so where do they want me?  No one says anything.  Then we end up with three people in the offlane (?) including me.  Turns out, no one wants to go mid.  This is extremely rare because mid is the cushiest role in DoTA.  You get almost free farm thanks to tower proximity and the creeps, no one ganks you in pubs, and you get to play heroes that get kills and make plays without the pressure of being the main carry.  Its basically where hotshot players go to feel good about themselves without actually being more skilled than anyone else.  Anyway, there is exactly one decent mid on our team: Vengeful Spirit, in the safelane with Phantom Lancer.  We all tell her to mid, she does not.  Turns out, she's not even supporting, she's doing a carry build.  She never gets a single kill, feeds constantly, confuses everyone by ulting at random moments.  Oh and whenever she's dead she spams pings on every fight for no reason.  Best player.

Returned the broken controller, got an Xbox One wireless controller + adapter for $15 less than retail. This, at least, won't have a wire that can break.

Not to say anything against all your other (perfectly valid) points. 

But I played through dark souls 2 and quite a bit of PvP with a bow specialist build, and I think I noticed that when I was locked on to a target when shooting my arrows seemed to also arc slightly towards a target like the enemy arrows do. 

At least that's what I think was happening, my memory is fuzzy. With how slowly the arrows fly I can't imagine how I was hitting a moving target without manually aiming otherwise, and I don't recall having any particular trouble hitting npcs or players.

Back on topic, while it was not MY death per se, I had a sword buddy helping me clear a town.  I went back to my recreation of the 'land of the dead''s Dead Reckoning and started unloading loot. 

I suddenly realized my buddy wasn't sitting in the front seat like he usually does and went out to look for him. and found him surrounded by cellar spiders that I did not see, just around the back of the truck.  I jumped back in and turned on the turrets but I was too late.  RIP, random guy who was following me around for over a season and was actually really useful.

(At least I finally got him to get rid of those arm splints)

Cataclysm DDA

I send my army out to scout.
Enemy army gets around my army somehow and captures one of my cities without a fight.
I move my army back, bringing in a second army from a second city. The two armies attack my captured city at the same time.
It's a knock-down drag-out bloodbath. I outnumber the enemy nearly 2-1, but their army is almost entirely composed of powerful Tier 3 units, plus the enemy leader. They also have those nice walls I spent time and money building. The enemy leader summoned stupidly powerful fireballs every turn, dealing massive amounts of unavoidable damage. By the end of the battle, I had only two units left: a near-death low-tier magic initiate and the hero who lead the two armies. The hero actually fell during the battle, but he had an ability that would bring him back to life if his army won anyway.
So I have my city back. I immediately order the training of additional units to replace my losses.
And then the city is attacked. By another army of Tier 3 units. These ones can fly, rendering my walls useless. They can also use some sort of curse ability that hits my hero unit from a ridiculous distance and through the walls.
I struggle valiantly, but my pitiful "army" falls without slaying a single enemy unit. The city is lost (again) and the hero dies for good this time.
Oh right. The hero was mission-critical. Game over, time to restart the campaign map.

Age of Wonders III

So I had set up a little pen for my breeding pair of dodos. Along comes a carnotaurus and eats the hen right after I'd collected the one and only fertilized egg. Eventually I find the time to go search for another hen to replace poor dodobutt (yes I named her dodobutt, I probably deserved to watch her die.) and once I've found one I beat it up and tame it. Of course, I'm only a few meters from the ocean and hidden behind nothing but a rock. Suddenly while I'm in her inventory shifting berries around I see a huge black shape looming behind her. It's a sarcosuchus. It eats my freshly-tamed high-level dodo hen. I wasted all my arrows and spears trying to kill the bastard, only for a nearby trike to finish it off.
It took about half an hour to find another hen. There are so many goddamn males around this island is a sausage fest I swear.

Later I'm on another part of the island and I've just tamed a triceratops and my first three female dilophosaurs. Trying to skirt the edge of the swamps, and along comes a snake. My dinos go after it. Then a wild dilophosaurus. Then another two snakes. I accidentally shot my highest level dilophosaur in the back of the head. The trike ended up getting eaten by a snake. He had all the minerals and rare plants I'd collected on him, and I never recovered them; the place was still crawling with snakes and I had used all my arrows and spears again. I took the remaining two dilos around the remainder of the swamp, crossed a river, and we're all hiding in a cave I found composed of rocks stuck together in an odd fashion. The important thing is, sarcosuchi cant fit through the hole! I hope.

And here I thought getting eaten by compsugnathuses repeatedly was frustrating enough.

BoI:Rebirth (Afterbirth Expansion)

I had a 9-Volt + Doctor's Remote, and coupled with Azazel's prekitted Brimstone Beam, could tear bosses new holes in seconds if i hit them directly (8 Beams from the point of explosion with x20 the tear damage dealt.

'Course, I had a lack of HP, so I ended up dying to some Brimstone beams from the enemies in Boss Rush. Whoop de doo.
