As further evidence towards this: I fought a single level 44 dildo. Every hit I made broke a spear. I got five hits in. Then it spat at, blinded and murdered me.
What I read.

King Pisskop was the oldest of the youngest pair of twins born to Duke Cristoforo.  Raised by a cynical but knowledgable nanny, King Pisskop understood the value of study and the practicallity of religion.  Though he was never taught how to fight, he nevertheless became Duke Cristoforo's prefered choice in the elective succession voting because his youth and positive attribuites.  His closest competitor was a fat slob of a man who knew how to fight and which nerves would scream the loudest when pricked.

Upon asscention to his position under his liege, the King of Lombardy, Duke Pisskop was well recieved by his inferiors but despised by his superior.  After several attempts to hold his own children hostage for education, Duke Pisskop took 5 years out of his otherwise ritualistic life of study to learn how to fight.  Duke Pisskop began aggressively expanding his lands, rising from 5 counties to 8 or 9.  Pisskop began forming factions, and survived 3 attempts upon his life one year; all from the King of Lombardy.

Duke Pisskop declared 2 wars for independence.  The first time he declared a war for independence he was outmatched by the King's reinforcements, some mercenaries scrounged up.  He lost a portion of his army but was otherwise able to sue for a white peace when Baveria launched an attack on Lombardy.  Duke Pisskop would remember the favor granted to him by marrying his daughter to the Prince of Baveria and participating in 5 or 6 wars against the tyrannical ruler of Baveria.

The King of Lombardy defeated, Duke Pisskop created the Kingdom of Salerno, bracing himself for the Byzantine invasion that never came.  He traded his piety away for papal donations, over 1000 tons of golds worth.  He continued his expansion, though it was somewhat stymied by the lack of weak neighbors and the peace treaties.  Africa was always on his mind but never pursued.

Throughout King Pisskop's life, He was known as a just man.  He always studied hard and was a known theologian of the Catholic faith.  He converted orthodox neighbors and subverted the heresies that sprouted in his land after the anti-pope was crowned in the French Empire.
King Pisskop became known as a competent tactician through his many wars, where he fought bravely.  He maintained a gregarious air about him, and was considered to be one of the most diplomatic rulers in all of Europe.  King Pisskop was a faithful Catholic, but understood that religion was a means to the end.

Married 4 times in his 70 year life, King Pisskop divorced 1 time.  He had 8 children, the youngest of which inheritied his kingdom at the age of 12.  His dynasty controled 90% of the land of the Kingdom of Salerno, which controlled Italy's southern  holdings on the mainland.

King Pisskop died a natural death, seeming to enter his daily meditations only to never come out.

I knew that I was going to have to fight O'Malley, but I ended up talking to him over his desk, which presented a problem as I was out of stun gun darts. However, I thought I would be able to jump over his desk and do a super-cool takedown.

It turns out, the game is quite picky about where you can do takedowns; you have to be on exactly the same horizontal level as your target. So O'Malley ended up shooting me to bits while I stood on his desk mashing the takedown key.

I'm playing as Curonia, trying to establish Lithuania. Things are going well, I'm in the midst of invading Lithuania in the process of establishing Lithuania. Then Saxony declares war on me. Not any of the two province states next to it, not Pomerania, Curonia, all the way over there. They run their three thousand men over here, and I start trying to surrender and have him vassalize or take everything I have, because soon enough Saxony will get France'd and I couldn't fight them if I wanted.
I go to surrender, and I realize that I can't. He's taken four of my states and crushed my armies, warscore is at -43, and he 'won't accept my offer'. The one where he takes all my land. The one he declared war over.
I got angry and quit.

Manged to snag a couple hours between other external duties to hop in game and clean up some loose ends for the Terrans.  Kidnap Mahi Ma mission: masquerading as an Argon pilot in an Argon M3 (designation for a heavy fighter), escort the target through three pirate sectors, then attack his escorts (also M3 heavy fighters), capture his ship, and bring him in for questioning.  Problem?  XRM enhances pirate strength, and one of the sectors is effectively a pirate core sector.  Our little convoy ran into a sector-defense pirate M2 (destroyer, but battleship-equivalent in-game), three M6 corvettes, and at least two dozen or more fighters of various odds and sods.  I can't jump in any reinforcements (even if I had any) because that would ID me as a hostile Terran agent and not the Argon fighter jock I'm masquerading as.  My missile load-out is ad-hoc because I don't have easy access to Commonwealth missiles due to the whole "selling arms to a hostile power" thing, and in either case was geared towards hostile fighters rather than the largest class of capital ships in the game.

I died.  And died.  And died.  And died.  And died.  And died.  Then stood off at the very limits of the mission-allowed ranges for around ten minutes, realized the convoy I was escorting had plot-shields from vanilla which would keep them locked in an unwinnable eternal battle, and then died.  I still love XRM, but whoo boy, that mission...

I was between two Harvesters, hoping to quickly do the double takedown before they noticed me. Even though the prompt was on screen and I was madly mashing Q, it took a second too long and suddenly every Harvester in the area knew I was there.

Human Revolution. Is it me, or is the game a bit less responsive than I remember...?

Why is it that Teliko is only equipped with non-usable weapons? Or maybe I don't quite have equippable guns figured out yet - it says you must also equip ammo, but I don't seem to have any ammo cards.

Either way, it was ridiculous spending three turns chasing around a guard to smack him around, all the way to the level entrance, only for his partial call for reinforcements to summon a replacement right at the level entrance.

EDIT: Next death: I run around a corner, and suddenly find myself in the middle of: 2 Hunters, a Boomer, 2 Smokers, and a Charger(and I think I heard a Jockey). The latter of which proceeds to slam my face into the ground repeatedly as about two dozen common zombies get in on it too.

As soon as the bots scrape me off the ground, a Tank steamrolls me.

All this on Easy.

My party of two fighters, a priest, a thief, a bishop and a mage was wandering around the first level of the Maze, bopping kobolds and kobold skeletons. They weren't that much of a threat because we were second level and had decent gear and spells. Then I go into a room and find myself facing some strange humanoids as well as the usual kobolds. They reveal themselves to be Bushwhackers by hitting my priest, Ceiling Cat, three times for twelve damage. Ceiling Cat had 11 health. I skedaddle out of the dungeon and bring in my absurdly over-levelled priest Vissarion to Kadorto him back to life. The spell goes off without a hitch and soon Ceiling Cat is amongst us once again. I send the party down again and recommence skeleton bopping. The first group of skeletons we encounter are lucky at dodging, but don't do much damage. Ceiling Cat seems to be hitting them a fair bit, which is good. And then Ceiling Cat dies. See, I wasn't paying very close attention. And "Skeleton hits Ceiling Cat 1 times for 4 damage" looks a hell of a lot like "Ceiling Cat hits Skeleton 1 times for 4 damage". After that, I have the casters, Arcvasti and Basement Cat, toast the skeletons with Halitos to get them dead fast before running up the stairs and whistling up Vissarion to Kadorto Ceiling Cat back to life again. This time, it fails and Ceiling Cat becomes ashes. Kadorto, being a level 9 spell, can even revive ashes. Vissarion tries again and erases Ceiling Cat from existence forever. Dammit.

In my case, I probably borked the scripts 2 times and beyond to the point Escort missions no longer work because ships stop pathing towards their destination if interrupted.

Decided to nuke the game and run Litcube's Universe instead. I'll get back to XRM when I feel like choosing mods again.

So, The Missing Link likes to do evil things. Like putting groups of enemies at the bottoms of ladders, where you can't see them until it's almost too late. Said enemies being armed with shotguns, which can be one-hit kills if you're unlucky.

Apparently, your Emperor doesn't like it when you try to declare your indipendence from him, and if you just have one duchy in your holdings it's not so easy to win.
So, before you do so... yeah, check twice if your ally is ACTUALLY going to help you in the war.
