It really amazes me that apparently some people have beaten that game on the first try.

It's easy to beat first try, if you count saving on D1 and then redoing from that first try. Complete run without walkthrough, prior knowledge or loading saved games? 99.999999999% impossible. The game is too trial-and-error.

Sorry, that tends to happen You can beat him with presence and instrument, but you need some sort of foreign intel (can't remember which.)
If you try to duel him, even if your magic stuff is maxed you need decoration or something else I can't remember.

Foreign intel lets you know that he's a musician.  Instrument and Voice combined let you use music to calm him down instead of riling him up even further.  Public Speaking and Presence both separately are necessary to ensure you sound like a Queen instead of a petulant brat when you tell him off.  And by these powers combined, you are Lynn Minmei.

If I recall, I beat him with a combination of maxed Magic(all but one of the magic skills were maxed) and mid-40s Sword.

His army doesn't entirely make good on his promise to leave, since Nova still had a bandit problem from the deserters for years to come, and because I spent so much money on frivilous things, it was kinda hard to raise a force to deal with it.

Oh, and about that nobleman who killed you earlier, magic. Just because it's a duel to the death doesn't mean that it has to be fought with physical weapons. Or that you both have to wait until the word "Go!".

X-Com Piratez mod

Realised that the race can't be finished even with the speed of a velociraptor, so I changed to a baby trike and attempted to use charge. The game crashed.

Then I tried again and the game crashed.
And again.
And again.
Now the game just keeps crashing when I try to charge with any dino.
Tried with intel graphics card: Load corrupted. (No, not the save, the load!)

92.4% completion and it seems I won't even find out if there is a reward for 100% (unless someone posts online)

Doing Defense. Being Lazy Frost, with my range-specced Snow Globes.

Only really bothering to move or attack things that enter in melee range or heavies that can threaten my globes, as well as activating laser turrets as they come off of cooldown.

Just activate one, only to get knocked off my ass by an Eximus AoE that don't care 'bout my globes. I am sent flying over the barrier, in front of the laser.

Instant smoked bacon.

I gave up on a puzzle and resolved to come back to it later. That's the closest you come to dying in Myst. It's the piano puzzle in the rocket ship.

There's a sort of in-game hint system nearby, but the clue it gives you is for getting in to the rocket ship, not solving the puzzle within. I've seen the OTHER clue, but thus far I haven't been able to make heads or tails of it.

Bandits attacked me while travelling. Since I knew nothing about medicine, weapons or anything even resembling danger, I promptly died after being shot with an arrow. Maybe I should have thought something was up when I failed multiple Divination tests for several weeks.

EDIT: Also, I broke realMyst. If you're using the free-roaming controls, you can push the down button on the elevator in the Mechanical Age and then quickly sprint out before the door shuts. You'll be trapped on the top level of the fortress, and you can't summon the elevator because attempting to use the control panel on top of the elevator (at least, in this bugged-out state) will move the camera in such a way that you can't actually see the button to click it. Hey, at least I was close to the actual solution to the puzzle!
