Nope, just have a favorite meteor image :P. And a two sentence description doesn't make it obvious it was adventure mode due to several games where that could happen, so I wanted to make sure :P

Ah, alright.  The reason I was sure it was DF was because of his post in the Corrupt a Wish thread a couple o' minutes ago:

Granted. You have a fancy hat. Nothing else.

I wish that I hadn't just suffered a bullcrap death in DF.

(And other detective stuff that I did that totally makes me look like a stalker)

An alien managed to sneak up on and shank one of my guys. I couldn't save him because the only other guy who could was being blocked by a civilian standing right in front of him in a 1-tile wide alley, blocking his shot. For three full goddamn turns. When I tried to shoot the alien after he killed my soldier, the civilian takes a bullet in the head instead. Ragequit.

Maud with a glaive of distortion used a pack of jackals (of all things!) to surround me and beat me to a pulp. Couldn't blink or tele because I had stasis on. I don't think I'm ever going to beat this game. Was a champion of Trog in the Lair of the Beasts, too. GaFi, rest in pieces.

I JUST FOUND MY FIRST SHINY POKEMON.

IT IS AN EEVEE.

IT'S ALSO IN THE BATTLE CASTLE, SO I CAN'T POSSIBLY CATCH IT.

I feel like this game just grabbed my balls and tore them from my body. TWICE.

HARD IS PRETTY  DAMN HARD!.

I've tried three games so far on hard.  From my own observations, hard means 3 starting feuds, 2 your neighbors, and one ally.  It also seems to reduce the goodwill of your neighbors.  Also, I dont really understand what makes you stronger or weaker in combat, and feel like the only real way I know (warriors and magic) are too convoluted for me to get easily.  Ill send 30 weponthanes against 150 frydmen, sacrifice to the war god, and still have shrines of war set up and still get my rump kicked in.

- We Started surrounded by hostile intentions and the entire planet raiding us.  We somehow succeed in not dying, and when over 100 farmers get wounded I may have went overboard on the recruiting; earning me over 200 children to feed and a 50% increase in population over 2 seasons.  Opps

-We made it to tribe-making, due in part to one of my starting feuds being weak enough to regularly raid at my leisure.  But then Colymar decide I should pay them, and my clan laughed as I died under 500 men raids.

-We started in hostile intentions, and I somehow lost a string of battles over the course of a year.  every clan nearby saw that as a sign to raid me, along with Praxians and 2 nomad clans.

King o Dragon Pass.
If I have to hear that 'sad note' chord again Im going to toss my computer.

Playing my little base nice and easy, when a pirate raid lands.  Four pirates against two settlers didn't seem too bad to me, but I missed that two of them have high explosives and thus bunched up under cover.  Frag grenades ripped my settlers to pieces, though they took two of the pirates with them, and my third settler, who was unable to use violence, ended up...actually, surviving by some miracle.  One of the pirates threw a grenade, missed, and dropped it right next to the other pirate; the explosion took out his friend, and already badly injured, the last one ran for it.  That said, with only one settler left and many of my essential skills now buried with the other two settlers, there wasn't much I could do to forestall the inexorable decline.

A level 70 epic monster, the Fel Reaver, routinely patrols Outland, a 60-ish zone. I was minding my own business when he killed me from behind in two hits. How a five-story-high demonic robot managed to sneak up on me, I'll never know.

Later, in the exact same mission: TAAAAAAAAAANK!

It shoots through my cover, too!

It doesn't help my confidence that the wiki calls this part of the mission "masochistically difficult even in Easy mode".

E: Destroyed the tank. Then somehow got shot and killed during the ending cutscene. I guess an enemy was downed but not out. Or this mission is buggier than a spider lair.

Me being pedantic, I wanted to mention that a spider lair is probably the single most bug-free place on earth. :P

Maybe, but the creatures in the Spider Lair mission are called Spiderbugs. :P

Not the greatest name, since they also come in a scorpion variety.

OK, so the idea with fighting people is to launch a series of consecutive raids against a single clan.  The game tracks the troop counts and food supply of other clans, so you can wear them down.  This means you want the first raid you do to devastate them so the other raids will do better.

First, put full into war magic and no other magic.  Then, as your first 3 actions sacrifice to war gods and switch your shrines to war blessings.  Raid in the last part of fire and call whichever ally you think likes you most.  If you want a lot of time to prepare, wait until sea.  Put a ton of magic (like 4-6) into this fight, even though in most cases that's a terrible policy.

The way combat works as there's a pre-fight phase and a fighting phase.  Orlanth and Hunakt sacrifices take a cow, Orlanth helps pre-fight while Hunakt helps fighting (I think he also helps you achieve objectives like taking captives).  However if your opponent charges you the time it takes to sacrifice is taken into account and you might be caught off guard, so consider not sacrificing.  Evade counters charge usually.  Also note that maneuvering is more effective for defenders.  Finally both evade and skirmish "opt out" of fights, if both sides do them then the fight is inconclusive but the skirmishing sides will still inflict casualties.

Remember how I said the game tracks the stats of a clan?  Well you can sacrifice to Lhankor My to get info on the troop counts of your opponent, you can do this a year before the info is needed.  Also Malia Gor's earthblast ritual can ruin their crop, if you do this repeatedly they might suffer massive starvation casualties.  Be aware that any clan which catches you Earthblasting them will send a punitive raid.

Can an NPC clan fall apart in KoDP?

Also it's Maran Gor. Malia is the goddess of pestilence and generally speaking you will want to stay away from her unless you're desperate.

Does showing up to a defense with 1 weaponthane and 45 foot soldiers count as "falling apart"?
