I made it all the way to the fourth level, which takes place inside the enemy's castle. This almost never happens, but I was on a streak and had made it all the way there without being hit a single time.

And then a single red wizard appears and completely wrecks my shit. They seem to know exactly when you're going to be jumping (and thus defenseless) and will throw a fireball as soon as you're in the air.

Rage Match. 2 Deviljhos in the Land Arena. Going great when suddenly, Jho 2 jumps on me and starts eating my face. No problem, I'm full health.
Sister: "You should throw a dung bomb so he stops eating you. Wa-"
Me: "DUNG BOMB OKAY" throws the dung bomb, Jho 1 rushes in from the side and instakills me
Sister: "-it the other guy's coming no okay"

Odd little bug caused basic Goblins to spam divine intervention, giving them +Max HP every turn.

Odd little Bug caused Ghosts to somehow know Bless, and Bless is bugged to grant almost 1000+ Damage on top of your regular attack.

Odd Little Bug caused Black Dragons to show up as encounterable groups in tutorial dungeon.

I'm still getting the hang of how numbers work in RPG Maker XP.

I was walking (read: dragging my feet in a mega-slow limp) to medbay, when I fall flat on my face in critical. The mime steals my robes and hood, then drags me to medbay. The head of security fixes me up with ointment and asks what happened, then throws me out after I answer. I promptly fall on my face because the cryo sting is still in effect. The head of personnel drags me in and fills me with inaprovaline and puts me in a sleeper, despite still dying from the burn damage. I die in the sleeper and get taken to genetics, where I re-enter my corpse one second too late and the doctor puts me in the morgue.

Space Station 13, Basil.

I actually had something similar happen to me not too long ago, except instead of throwing off my aim it made me fall off a cliff on Hallway.

Wasn't able to find the initial quest giver, so I entered the offline quest hall looking for things to do. Find a 1 star quest, kill Giadrome, no problem. Haven't played this game in ages, so feel pretty good. Look at a similarly priced 1 star quest, for a "giant enemy crab," thinking I could attack its weak point for massive damage.

I was wrong. It burrowed into the ground and practically one shot me in my starter armor on the way up.

Then I discovered why this area was for multiple people, before I had even gotten the Felyne comrade as a distraction for bigger beasties, and why I needed armor that provided more than 1 defense per piece.

You'll want to look for the old lady to the right of the Guild Hall.
And I think offline guildhall quests are only a little bit harder than Chief quests, at least the low rank ones.

First in a cave, then on his way back to camp from his touchstone.

He shall be missed.
