I get alot of companions, rush into battle, pull myself back, then just wait for my meat shields to do the work.I only make exceptions when fighting mega beasts or semi-mega beasts. Then I'll get to get behind the creature and attack.

i normally take a casual approach to fighting-sword and shield, walk in and start killing.  This normally works because a') i have companions and b) because i open every fight with thrown items at close range.  My favourite throw was a bronze shield that obliterated a charging swordsman's brain. :D

I go for grisly wounds. Keeping my distance, leading them around, chopping off a limb, spilling their guts, opening an artery, makeing them puke and bleed and suffer. And then I loot their comrade's corpses while the injured ones die. And if they don't die by the time I'm done, I chop bits and pieces off of them until they do.

And if I wasn't too reckless to pay attention, I'd always open my fights by means of crossbow shots. I keep meaning to, but whenever I see an enemy I just end up charging at them.

I wield a shortsword and a large dagger. I go for stabbing attacks to the upper body until my shortsword gets stuck in the wound, then I let go of it and leave it there. Then, with my now free hand I strangle them until they choke, leaving me with a guaranteed direct hit on their throat with a slash from my large dagger. Brutal.

Longsword and shield. Most enemies get the murderization treatment. Low-ranking bandits and goblin guards, who really don't deserve to die, merely get stabbed in unimportant places 'till they give in, and then I crush their hands. That'll teach 'em.

With those who i dont think deserve to die, i cut their feet off. It seems fitting to me.

Unless i end up having to hack them off, in which case they die before my weary work is complete

Strangle until the enemy passes out then stab in the head with javelin.
Or night strike.

Equipped only with a steel javelin.

I usually go for arms and legs, trying to disable the enemies and I go for the head if an oppertunity presents itself. I usally favour sword, but right now I am training a peasant to be an awsome wrestler by strangling people while they sleep. It's only been 3 or 4 days of this and I am already a proffesional wrestler.

I have also started gouging eyes out after I figured out how to do it.

edit: got up to great figther and wrestler one level under fighter and a bloody troll comes along and breaks my spine before I can do anything :(

Now that I figured it all out, I'm trying to disarm the opponents - pun intended. If possible, lessen their fighting capabilities to sustain less damage, and try to get their brain afterwards. Generally, remove whatever appendage they use to attack me or make them drop their weapons. I tend to use swords, but my best adventurer so far was a speardwarf.

I tend to just go for the easiest striking opportunity most of the time, which results in lots of feet and hands getting chopped off (halberdman here). However, if/when they're down or stunned, I always go for a head-stomp. It's just so fun to kick people's skulls through their brains.

In groups, I tend to fight very close to my allies and try to avoid getting surrounded.

I'm really getting into this now.

New tactics: Sneaking up to them, wielding at least one shield. Once I'm spotted, I toss the shield at them - it tends to kill :D  After that, I dual wield a crossbow and any other weapon. 2h Sword, Pike, Morningstar, Spear, another Shield, whatever. Chop chop toss bludgeon shoot bolt garghl wargharghl aaaaarh!

Shield tossing is quite remarkable as an opener it seems - Toss in the shield, then just run them through with other things

Hmm... Is it possible to dual-wield shields? Gotta try...

I've been dual-wielding shields a little, and nothing really hit me. I think DWing shields can be quite magnificient as a skilled MOU.
