Hmm. I also found a style I quite like that involves lots of throwing people on the ground and curb stomping them until they die. I also like to keep souvenir toes but that's nothing new.

I keep trunks. And blood, when I can get it.

Just lots and lots of daggers and axes, dual-wielding, and pegging stragglers with spares. if I'm wrapping up the fight I throw my off-hand for great justice,
Ambushed by a cougar in the night.
The spinning bronze battle axe strikes The Cougar in the upper body, tearing apart the muscle and tearing apart the right lung!
The Cougar is having trouble breathing!
The bronze battle axe has lodged firmly in the wound!
10 steps and I have walked over to the crippled cougar.
You attack with the bronze flail, striking the cougar's head. The skull has been shattered and pushed into the brain, tearing apart the brain!
FUCK YES THROWING THINGS.
(was using a flail, my main axe was in my backpack, so I threw it to great effect)

My fighting style is simple but awesome none the less and has worked hundreds of times.  I usually go with a sword so every enemy I attack their legs until they fall over then i attack their arms till i get a shot for the stab to the head.

Strangle Enemy.
Wait for him to pass out.
Aim at head with battleaxe.
If head flies off, pick up and keep as souvenir.
???
Profit.

Also, I've noticed that carving knifes, ect. Make amazing throwing weapons.

Wrestle their throat, then you should be able to chokehold, then strangle.
In laymans terms

Shift+A; Enter; A (Or whatever enemy/friend); Scroll to an arm, leg, hand; Grab the Throat; Shift+A; Enter; Same Target; Wrestle throat with *Integr*; Place Chokehold; Go in there again the same way and you can Strangle Throat

Large sword + throwing everything pointy in my inventory I have.

Bandits: "Oh god it's raining +sharp+ schist! run for your lives!!!"

And then I come up with my sword and finish them off while they are pulling bits of rock and meathooks out of their flesh.

I just tried to kill some manner of night creature by throwing cutlery at it.

...didn't work.

Me? I go forward with my band of troops, bravely attacking the enemy in a weapon to weapon dual. I almost never throw anything and rely on my spear to kill things. I am known for the bad luck that (cross)bowmen almost never survive battles when they join me. Spears rock. I am fond of them since my current adventurer has one and he has lived longer than any other I started. Also, lords seem to give me the same quests peasants do. I've been killing night creatures ever since I started. No bandits at all.

As it turns out, the pen was in fact a poor choice for melee combat in comparison to the sword.
So I just started playing this game and I accidentally nuked the moon.

ctrl+c
I just discovered how deadly a finely-crafted/decorated bronze pick is.
Where my swords, axes, halberds, hammers, knives, all of them, fail to kill a giant with multiple, direct blows to the head;
The Pick finishes her in one move.
It severs parts.
It crushes skulls.
It punctures armor.
It.
Is.
God.
I will make it this adventurer's life's work to become legendary with this weapon of mass destruction, and it will be a very, very long life indeed.
Did I mention that it increases mining skill?

I usually go with dual weapon style (2 bucklers & sword & dagger/sword+sword, one pair in each hand, and depending on your play style even a slashing+blunt weapons style is possible now).

If the 1st weapon gets stuck I attack with the other, sometimes smacking them with the bucklers along with striking, kicking & biting. At times I even leave/let go of the stuck weapons & unsheathe my extra ones either for throwing or to continue slashing.
