Europa Universalis III
« on: November 12, 2010, 04:13:16 pm »

For some reason, I felt like doing one, but first I'm going to gauge interest, and find a free program that lets me save a screenshot with just one button that isn't F12. If you don't know what EU III is, it's an RTS game where you pick any day between 14th October 1399 and sometime in 1821, pick a country, and get playing. The list of playable countries is pretty big, and depends on when you start, so I'll avoid making one. Any interest, or shall I go back to lurking?

EDIT: This is theoretically a country list, but the Paradox forums are down at the moment. Try this for now.

To test Imgur, here's a map dump of the starting state of the world.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

EDIT: Yeah, that worked. Now how do you name a spoiler?

EDIT2: Finally corrected the damn title. Took me nearly 3 months to notice it.

Yes, and I vote for trying to form the Netherlands as Holland, starting in 1399.

Heh, so far every time I try that, I end up getting flattened within a few decades. It's embarrassing, but maybe I've improved. I'll wait a little, though, see what else we come up with.

EDIT: Also, I might consider livestreaming it. We'll have to see about times, and more importantly, if my crappy internet will handle it.

Be the smallest country in the game. :)

As for screenshots I recommend FRAPS, it lets you bind it to any key and I'm pretty sure the screenshots don't suffer from it being the free version.

There's a lot of countries that start out with only 1 province. I'm not sure which is the smallest, though.

Inuits aren't in the game, but Aztecs and Mayans are. Native Americans are hardmode, however, and will have a lot of waiting around for the most part, punctuated with short wars then my probable extermination whenever the Europeans show up.

EDIT: Also, photobucket resizes my map images, so I need an image host that won't.

Imageshack is good for pictures.

Okay, what about one of them southern African tribes? The Zulu? If that's another hard mode, what about Tibet? Still too hard? Korea.

I don't think it will resize them, haven't uploaded any large ones though.

Smallest Native American country is what country I vote for now. Hardmode. >:D

The Zulu are, IIRC, in but pretty isolated, although I may be thinking of another African nation. There's a few of them, and I don't play down there much. I'm willing to do anything if it gets enough support, though.

EDIT: Hell, if you really wanted I could recreate my American Irish land grab.

I vote for Holland, or if we're going native american the Iroqouis.  Irish landgrab could be fun as well.  Do the americas ever try to revolt?  And if they do, can you just take control of them?  Really, i'm just interested in there being wars for my amusment.... >.>

Really, natives aren't very fun.

Do the americas ever try to revolt?  And if they do, can you just take control of them?
Sometimes they do. And yes, you can control anyone. ANYONE, although rebels requires a console command.

My suggestions for who we should choose from:
Scotland - Try to form Great Britain, then keep France and Burgundy from getting too strong, while racing the Iberian powers to the New World.

Morocco - Inferior technology, lots of useless desert to expand into, and frequent wars with the Iberian powers.

Ottoman Empire - Kill the Europeans!

Some German two Provence minor - Rise above petty squabbles over our dead enemies, then form Germany a few centuries early.

Muscowy - Stave off the Golden Horde until we can annex Novgorod and form Russia! Then try to become a massive giant and kill everything.

Holland - Avoid being killed by large, extremely hostile neighbors.

Are you playing IN or HTTT?

In any case, a challenge would be to conquer Asia with Korea. Korea is much smaller than Japan, and unlike Japan, it's stuck on the mainland. It's navy is crap, so it has to be cautious not to be on the hit-list of Japan and Ming. Korea needs to take the usual Japan strategies of conquering SE Asia, India and westernizing to slaughter Ming- while dealing with a lot of issues overall, especially financing the damn war.

Play Maledives, conquer all islands everywhere!

Or Bar, they start out with some awesome sliders(5 centralization) but start between france and burgundy, with both having a reason to attack you as their first target.
