Reclaiming Luthepxa

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Dear General Imush Bomreklir,

The failed human settlement of Luthepxa -- said to have fallen prey to the tyrannical reign of the dreaded cyclops Aca Ithacavere Lima Mima, was at one time expected to become a beacon of pacifism and the unifying capital of the human nations. With grand architectural ambitions and a nearly limitless supply of stone, the humans had hoped to make this region into a great city.

But they failed.  Between the lack of a military, poor-management, and unleashing beasts from the underground caverns, they failed miserably.  This was the place where a simple wood burner managed to kill a forgotten beast with his bare hands, only to die of dehydration shortly afterward, where miners managed to prove themselves against the Sport of Coloring, only to be put to work in an attempt to kill the surviving citizens in a cave-in, where vain monuments were put on higher priority than securing necessary supplies! ... well, okay, so maybe the last one was somewhat admirable, but still: the humans failed miserably.  And where they failed, we dwarves will prove our superiority.

I only pray that Egul will grant me his guidance in making this disorganized hell-hole into a respectable fortress.

Signed,
Ral Usenkilrud, Expedition Leader

Oh?  Not even if you annoy the merchants badly enough?  Hmm... If that's so, then I suppose I don't have to worry about being to mean then. Muahahahahaha...  ;)

Ral, looking around at the scattered objects, turned to the group's miner: Sazir Lertethkivish.  She might not have been the strongest or the fittest, but she was the one with a pick.  "I think you should go dig and look for some rock.  It would be a good idea to have some for a masonry workshop -- right, Obok?"

The mason nodded.  "Yes, I should certainly think so," she agreed.

The group's butcher and tanner, Mebzuth Indomat, snorted.  "You would follow the orders of that fool?  He cannot even catch decent fish -- how can he be expected to lead us?"

Iden Tosidbidok, the jeweler and all-around craftsdwarf and only other male in the group besides Ral, clicked his tongue disapprovingly.  "There's no need to be so bitter, Mebzuth.  I think Ral is a great leader."

"Yes, you would," Mebzuth muttered.

"AHEM!" Ral cleared his throat loudly.  "How about we stop arguing and get to work, okay?  I'll even find a plot of land for farming, if that's fine with you guys. Zuglar," he said, indicating the party's woodcutter -- an incredibly tough dwarf by the name of Thikutgireth, "you cut down a few trees, and you, Zuglar," he said, indicating the party's carpenter, named Alathsolon, "Take some of the wood that's lying around and start building a carpenter's workshop.  Everyone else, get to work on collecting some of the things that were left here by the previous inhabitants.  Now get to work!"

With curt nods, the dwarves went to their jobs.
