Right, head back to the quarters and attempt to look up information on the Defender, I want to learn about the technical specifics.

bowdown2q is taking his time, I'm going ahead with this and giving him a standard action.

Turn 5
As you all go about your business a male voice speaks over the ship-wide channel "We will be exiting hyperspace in 10 minutes, I repeat, exiting hyperspace in 10 minutes. Will all pilots report to crewquaters and await further orders, I repeat, all pilots report to crewquarters.

MagusBlack: Looking at Bomber
(6) As you watch the techs for a bit, one of them notices you, looking up he says "Your craft was flagged up by the last pilot that it had some faults in it's plasma thrower and engine plasma vent to it so we're giving it a once over. We'll be done before we exit hyper space."

SHAD0Wdump:Looking up information on defender
Walking back into the rec room you access one of the general purpose consels located on the walls and begin looking through the system for anything about your defender. (6) You manage to locate a page listing all the strike craft that the Carrier holds, out of the 50 strike craft 10 are 'Sheild' Defenders, the origanal desgin was developt by the Kushan on their journay to the homeworld but Tieba got a hold of the blue prints and have made upgrades to it's armour and turning angle.

ragnarok97071: Playing cards with other pilots
"Great, I've got some other guys to play as well" He replies and leads you to one of the tables surrounded by three pilots, two interceptor pilots and a bomber pilot. (4) As you play the first game you get a good enough hand, manahing to beat four of the others but one of the interceptor pilots gets a lucky draw and washes you out. (5) Second hand goes much better, putting everyone else down in short order. (5) Again you get a promising hand but it seems that everyone else did as well but more so and your out of the game.

Nimitz:Talking to defender pilots
(5) You catch one sitting on his own at a table who appears to be veiwing everyone else. He looks at you at your arrival, "Well, I've heard from one of the officers that we're currently on our to the Rastiear system and joining up with some other Tieba ships before continuing on." Is his reply to your question.

Jetsquirrel:Chilling in quarters
Happy with your ship you head back to the crew quaters and jump onto your bunk lieing back and staring at the bottom of the top bunk. Other pilots are hanging out either on their own or in small groups.

Burnt Pies: Heading back to rec room
After checking your scanners you head back to the rec room. You see a lot of pilots lounging around, in fact it appears nearly all of the fifty strike craft pilots are here.

bowdown2q: going back to bunk and chilling
Back at the crew quarters you sit on your bunkbed and look at the other pilots.

If the rec room still counts as crew quarters... Experiment with blueprint information on the Shield design, attempting to learn anything I can about how this stuff works.

If it does not... Go to crewquarters as directed while contemplating the designs I looked up, I'm gonna find out how to tweek this stuff if it kills me!

Erm I'm afraid that only researchers can do anything like that. Sorry to piss on your perade but you can only do pilot things. there will be action in two turns I PROMISE!
