Everyone saying they're really easy, Bogeymen are randomly created when you gen the world. That includes their toughness, skill levels, and even limbs.

So yes, yours may be easy. Others are exceedingly hard.

Only thing I found that worked was running in circles around a tree, taking attacks of opportunity to make them jump away if they started to surround me. Every once in a while my hero had a chance to bite one real good, and I'd shake it until whatever part I'd bitten came off. This is the only effective attack I found, and even this did not kill them until the parts coming off were Lower Bodies. Just dealing with 3 (and trying to never stand close enough to get hit by more than one at once, if that) left Quesa rather scratched up. Her formerly long and hooked nose will never recover. Li'l bastards.

I was able to fight them off handily with a dwarven axe lord.

My human wrestler and elven bowman both went down in seconds.

I just slaughtered a herd of them. The trick seems to be to aim for the head and body regardless of what the combat menu says, since they don't seem to be very good at dodging.

On the other hand, I was an axedwarf in a martial trance, so maybe a human wouldn't have been able to hit them as easily.

Me too.  First night out, I get cornered by 5 of them.  I charged at one and went into a martial trance.  When the song of Armok faded, there were two hopelessly crippled bogeymen left.  Unenhanced, even those took some time to hack to death with my axe.

They are stupid. I can't play a sneaky solo ambushing char because if I go anywhere more then five bloody  feet from a town I get killed by bogeymen. it seems like days are too short to me.

Why don't you hide in towns or caves for a night?

And if you hate them so much, why don't you remove them in the worldgen parameters?

No no, we don't look for ways to resolve the issues we have with the game. We just call it stupid.

On topic, holy hell the exchange rate for coins is crap. Trying to use coins from one civ in another is murder.

All my adventurers that encountered bogeymen (the latest one didn't) either wiped them out by fighting one at a time and not letting them gang up on their arse, or went down to them due to failing to do the above. In any case, every adventurer that fell did so to one or two remaining buggers after taking out everyone else, and those two were severely wounded every time as well.

Embarked on a haunted volcano. I am currently terrorized by skeletal alligators.

I have yet to actually see bogeymen. I have even tried.. Going to sleep at night in the wilderness, traveling at night. Not a single bogeyman.

The least you could have done was throw down some booze and seasoning. Abyssal Monsters that Creatures of the Light Know Not Of aren't savages, y'know. Sharing's caring.

How do you remove them in worldgen? I see no option.
