First awesome thing you've done in new adventure mode?
« on: November 11, 2010, 07:54:17 pm »

Well, aiming strikes is awesome and makes fights much more tactical and badass. The first thing I did after making a Dwarven demigod was accepting a quest to kill an outlaw, Dolil Raneemsi who had been terrorizing this cramped house of 10 people in the starting area. After a day's travel, I found the wench in her camp. She yelled out my name and told me to prepare to die, but it is her that had to do the preparing! After opening with a thrown copper knife through the foot, we engaged in melee combat. After a series of consecutive misses and dodges in an epic duel between a cheiftess and a dwarven demigod, I found an opening, embedding my spear through her foot. She fell to the ground in a sad, twisting motion, crying out in the womanly pain which makes men sick of war. I raised my foot above her skull, looked her in the eye, and kicked her in the face, instantly killing her as my iron boot and fragments of her skull tore her brain apart.

After missing 12 strikes or so and getting a mortal wound to my upper body, I managed to do this with a bandit leader, and survived.

I fought of4 human wrestlers (everything's harder now...) then jumped off a tower.

I wouldn't have made it anywhere safe in time.

I'll see what starting as Demigod is like...

The first? Stuffed a bunch of buzzards in my Hero adventurer's mouth.
Did you know that if you shake them around until the limb comes off, it stays in your mouth until you bite something else?

Got revenge for my fallen first adventurer (and his newly acquired squire) by making a ninja adventurer. KO'd both a maceman and pikeman (my OA's killer) and another maceman that was chasing me before taking on the other 2 before decapitating them all. I have their heads in my backpack. Oh, and I also killed the guy that killed my adventurer with the sword my first guy originally had. Take that!

Oh, and despite a small tangle after initially being seen by the main target and some troops, I only walked out with a bruised leg.

EDIT:
typo fixed.

My ninja is also a standard hero too, which makes it more awesome.

EDIT EDIT:
Just survived a night against bogeymen. Just recently killed 4 of them as a ninja. I'm heavily bruised, and my right thumb has a compound fracture on the skin and nail. My ninja is badass. He could've taken on the whole team. One man frikkin' army.

Oh, and yes, this is the very same ninja as above.

Created a spearman and then stabbed people in the face repeatedly. Targeted strikes gooooooood. Lost my shield hand and proceeded to kill a master and three of his cronies. What was not awesome was starting without proper armour.

Picked up a large bronze highboot in the first bandit camp, didn't realize I had it in my shield hand until my axe got stuck in a wolf and I brained another one with it.
After that It became my weapon of choice until my throat was torn out by a bear.

Had my dwarf adventurer wander into a castle.  He bit the legs of the first human he came across and shook him around.  The guards dispatched him midway through his escapades as he was too busy to bother defending himself.

Kicking a bandit in the eyelid, and jamming his skull through his brains. Directional attacks rock.

Killed a night creature spouse. That night, coming back from the lair, was attacked by 5 bogeymen. Using tactics, opportunities, and a bronze longsword, I wrecked them all with nothing but a few bruises.

I then proceeded to go around stomping night creatures and bandits. Each time I won a major fight, I recruited one or two more soldiers from the castle I based myself out of. Finally, the lady of the castle trusted me with killing... a sasquatch? After the easiest fight all game, she started giving me harder and harder quests. I killed an ettin, a hydra, and two titans. By now, I'm permanantly followed by an army of ~20 humans of various militant skillsets, many of them with massive numbers of kills on pretty prestegious creatures. In fact, I hardly get kills anymore since everyone zerg-rushes whatever is on the agenda. I only had two deaths, and both of those early on, the only other permanant injury was a spearman who lost his lower left arm to a forest titan.

I planned to bring the world out of the Age of Myth.

Then a bear chomped off my foot.

So I'm going to start a new adventurer tomorrow. Same plan, working my way up to a massive army. Then I'm just going to go on a megabeast killing spree. I've never changed the age of a world before, doing so would be awesome.

Woot for Toady, for he doth bless us with great gifts for Adventurers! mighty indeed is his keyboard, and great are these days.

Finding a lair with several bogeymen, after I was horribly wounded from fighting them I crawled away, thinking the sun might destroy them. Unfortunately it didn't and I died shortly after but it was cool. :)

Well I made a new world and lost 3 peasant-adventurers for many causes, the game feels much harder now.
I also trained a peasant to 'Hero' level, and died at night. Trained a Hero until 'Demigod' level [by killing 60 kobolds], and died being ganked by 20 kobolds (I should've fled...)

Now I started with a Demigod, and the most awesome stuff I've done:
I recruited as many people as I could, I think there was 8 peasants (or more), a maceman and a swordsman

I was going to invade a kobold camp, there is a troll there I need to kill...but in the way, I stumbled across a goblin force, I guess there where  10 or more (way more)...
The battle was awesomely goreish, there was people dying everywhere, and all the goblins were well trained/armed (for goblins at least)...and everybody died, except a peasant that lost his right arm and now keeps happily following me.

The battle spread everywhere on the site map, I found a human that died bleeding a lot of tiles away from the main battle.
It was like being one of your military during a siege on fortress mode, I've never did this before. [I DID raze a human town with a ton of dorfs in 40d, but wasn't as epic as this]
I killed 5 or more goblins, no permanent injuries.

Now I need to recruit another force and reach the foresaid kobold camp, there must be dozens waiting for me there..

--
I also hated humans because they expand too quickly.
Now I use respect them for serving me as happy meatshields tough soldiers.

It honestly feels like a lot of their problems came from the fact that their entire team was composed of cats, and the people who were supposed to be herding them were also cats.

Glad you can find Kobolds.
I am a Kobold, and there's no Civ in the world (or the one before) with any in.  Still, targeting is fun.

Second awesome thing? Well, jumping into a river to escape bogies and drowning isn't really awesome...
