Natural ability for music, good kinaesthetic sense, good in social situations and a menacing stare when angered.

Pretty much everything I wanted in a Metal dwarf! Can't wait for update XD.

25th Opal, 101 - Di Kingdomsquake

Again, Derm leads his rag-tag band into danger. "Derm, you're still the only one with a weapon. Don't you see this as a problem?" He laughed at me. "Builds character!" he said, slapping me on the back. "These young recruits have to taste blood every once in a while! And what do we do when we spill blood?" he shouted to his recruits. The recruits shuffled their feet and murmured amongst themselves. "Wash it off?" one ventured. "No you pansy Elf! We revel in it! Roll around in the blood and muck of our enemies! 'Tis a time-honored tradition among dwarfs! We coat ourselves in blood and muck, to dissuade the foul beasts from attacking us! No goblin or kobold can stand a charge from us, knowing we have been the doom of their kin!"

He went on like this for a while. Too bad I can't ask Fingers for some sort of mechanism that'll control Derm's volume. Anyway, Derm banged himself up pretty badly out there, but came back with two kills to his name. I fear he'll bear the scar on his foot for life. At least the scare with Derm convinced the Warden to allow a cavern breach so we can access the pool down there. It'll be nice to have a well year-round.

So I breached the first cavern level (through Derm's back door) to tap the pool to get a year-round well set up. Then I found out the pool wasn't infinite, but it'll do for this winter.

Now it's time for the 'community' part of the community fortress: do I establish a base down in the caverns or do I wall off the caverns and build an aboveground gladiator arena and throw skeletal trolls and troggs in it?

Take a third option: Create (Good) armor and a danger room. Also Savescum if I die from it.

if no third option, CAVERNS! I MUST EXPLORE THEM.

"Y'know, my favorite thing about being a hero is that it gives you all kinds of narrative justification to just slay any ol' jerk who gets in the way - Black Mage.
"The bulk of [Derm]'s atrocities seem to stem from him doing things that [Magic] doesn't actually do." - TvTropes
"Dammit Derm!" - You, if I'm doing it right.
Moved to SufficientVelocity / Spacebattles.

Danger room and steel armor it is! Derm's still stuck in the hospital with a dented foot, but he's theoretically all bandaged up. I'm gonna set up my soap industry and get the forges rolling, then we'll declare war on the underworld.
