and there is probably nothing that is a real threat to them.
I had the same idea when I was ambushed by 50+ goblins with an axelord :).
Each time my party gets ambushed by goblins most of my companions gets killed or heavily wounded, and I come out without a scratch (if you don't count arrows sticking from various parts of my body :P). And I haven't encounterd more than 25 goblins so far.

Is it possible to have keyboard macros on this version?  I was just thinking this because then a right, left macro would be all I needed to train up my crutch walking :P.

It is so cool that crutches work.

Does anyone know if splints are also useable?

Toady typically doesn't do things by half measures.  As evidenced by turning "make hauling work better" into "implement mine carts with physics".
There are many issues with this statement.

Just as well they work, otherwise my left footless adventurer wouldn't be able to walk :P.

Incidentally, the loss of this foot isn't mentioned on the wounds screen, while my TORN APART NAIL ON MY FIFTH TOE, RIGHT FOOT is.

MY only gripe is that broken bones cause WAAAAAAAY too much pain.

Like a "Superhumanly" tough with "Superhuman" willpower (toughness decressed pain in 40D but since the 2010 willpower also helps) who cracked a rib passes out about 8 times.

IRL I ONCE broke my wrist and I have a VERY low pain tolerance but I never fainted, was in ALOT of pain however.

Even weirder lost limbs cause EXTREMELY little pain for my adventurers yet once they crack a finger or knee they basicly turn into "Supercowardly" tough wimps who cant take a simple broken rib.

Its annoying when your doing good only to crack a toe and pass out about 8 times before someone walks up to you and kills you or whatever.

Anyone else have this problem?

Yeah, my guy passed out from a broken nail on his toe, but was fine after his other foot was cut off.

Did anyone else notice heroic titles now use proper words?  You don't get stuff like "the baby of whales" anymore.

I'm just reading replies on the new release and it seems like this:
wrestling = easy mode = hold them still so they can't evade insta-kill or strangle and then insta-kill
head shot = skull through brain insta-death
broken bone = passing out from pain/future death
lose a limb = blood loss but you get over it if you don't lose more limbs/blood
stabbed in the heart = bruised heart, no big.

I guess the numbers need tweaking, like the head needs a smaller brain size or a jaw to ensure that every head hit isn't insta-kill. And limb loss should be worse than broken bones until you have longer time to get over it.

I've had plenty of headshots where the person on the receiving end wasn't insta-killed, it really depends on the skill and attributes of the person doing to beat down.

Get hit in the head will mess you up, though, as it should.

But then, life was also easier when I was running around here pretending to be a man, so I guess I should just "man up" and get back to work.

My army of peasents just raped a cyclops liveing a tree house (they sorrounded the cyclops and then proceeded to bite him repeatedly) :)

Especially against larger creatures. We beat on an unconscious ogress's head for about 10 real-time minutes before she succumbed to death. Mostly it was bruising and tearing the fat and skin.

I've had several instances of kicks to the head ending up as grazing scratches, I can only presume with toenails. Unless you've buffed your strength to max and/or are going against much weaker creatures like elves or kobolds, you won't have guaranteed kills from a strike to the head.

I do concur that strangling followed by coup de grace is a bit overpowered at the moment, but it is very much fun, and is still not much easier to perform (the strangling part, that is) than it was a few versions ago.
