Dwarves stealing trade-designated biscuits to eat.
« on: June 09, 2008, 08:06:00 am »

Sorry if this is already a known issue, but my hungry dwarves keep going to the trade depot to steal the biscuits I've put there for trade.

They were hauled to the depot after being designated via the Depot's task menu whilst a Human caravan was arriving and setting up their goods.

There's plenty more biscuits, roasts, fish, plump helmets and meat inside the fortress. Most dwarves eat those. A sneaky few slip out front and flip the bird at the humans who are waiting patiently for my broker to get his lazy bum out of bed (he always, without fail, goes to sleep as soon as any traders arrive, the lazy git).

I once shot a bear in the eye with a bow on the first shot, cut it up, found another one, and shot it in the eye too. The collective pile of meat weighed more than my house.

The dwarves just are acting as if the Depot's just another stockpile, which is fair enough. If you want to keep your trade-food safe, you could forbid it once it's delivered and reclaim it just before you trade. That'll probably work. Probably.
